Is there an observation lounge on the Epic?

The Bliss has a marvelous wrap around lounge with snacks and lots of comfortable seating. Is there any observation lounge at all on the Epic. I saw a reference to one that was planned but can not find any reference to it on the deck plans.

Watch some ship tours on YouTube. Mr Traveler does a nice one. You will see every public spot on the ship. Also, look at the maps on the website - go to explore, select cruise ships, and select the Epic, then browse the decks.

I think it will depend on the day and weather to be 100% but most ports have a cruise ship schedule on their websites. You can get a general location where it plans to be docked.

Yes - you can locate the deck plans on NCL website, Explore tab and select Cruise Ships, then go to your ship and browse the decks. Most fitness centers are located near the mandarin spas.

Dress code

Can you wear capri pants when dining in the Manhattan dining room?

The dailies on the Epic do specify the dress code: "Resort casual and shorts are allowed in all dining venues except Le Bistro or Manhattan Room after 5:00p. Shoes and shirt must be worn." I will note this is basically fleetwide except for the Manhattan Room. When we were on the Encore, it was only Le Bistro and Ocean Blue that you had to wear long pants. So just keep that in mind if you sail on another ship in the future. This is what NCL says on their 'what should I pack' page: Cruise Casual: the Freedom of Freestyle Cruising Dress cruise casual anytime during the day, in the buffet and in most specialty restaurants. For women, it includes summer and casual dresses, skirts, regular or capri pants, shorts, jeans and tops. Khakis, jeans, shorts and casual shirts are fine for men. Swimwear is acceptable at the buffet and outdoor restaurant, but a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required. Be sure to pack a sweater - the air conditioning can be chilly. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants. Please Note: We want you to be comfortable, but tank tops for men, flip flops, baseball caps, visors and jeans that are overly faded, with holes or tears and worn below the hips are not permitted in main dining rooms or specialty restaurants. All Decked-out: Smart Casual Dress smart casual in our more formal dining room or in our more upscale specialty restaurants. For women, it includes slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. For men, it's jeans or slacks with a collared shirt and closed-toed shoes. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants.

Can i change my cabin?

It depends on the type of your booking and how you booked. If you want to change the location, you need to either call NCL reservations/person you booked through or your travel agent. It will depend on what is open in terms of capacity, location and deck. Also, if you want to change the class of cabin but risk the location, most times, NCL will send out a bid for upgrade opportunity which is not guaranteed.

Your cabin attendant can loan you one for a few hours. They're tightly controlled due to the fire risk they entail. You're not allowed to bring your own.

What time is the steak house open on the epic

Dinner times are the usual, in my experience, 5 -8:30. You will be able to make reservations in advance once the check-in time opens for your cruise. I would make reservations but if you need to change it, do it upon embarkation or as early as you can because it will book up during prime dinner hours 5 to 7. You may have a chance if it is later. It will also depend on the size of your party. If you have a group larger than 4, I would definitely book in advance or talk to the specialty dinning desk that is located beside guest services.

The washrooms on Epic are a little odd for a family of 2 adults 2 children.

Does anyone know if it would work to take some suction cups and your own shower curtain to hang it outside the shower area to make it more private?

True this is a unique feature of the Epic Ship. For privacy you are able to draw a curtain to separate the bath area and the rest of the room. I for one loved the idea of one person can be in the toilet area while another person could be showering while another person could be using the sink. But yes if you have more than two people cruising it could be an issue for privacy. This is the only ship which has this configuration in the fleet - I guess I try to look on the bright side of things. Additionally you will noticed curved walls and bunk bed coming out of the ceiling. Again unique to the Epic ship.
