Asked by: Cplrayrn
They have a couple of sugar free juices in the vending machines - mango flavored and kiwi-strawberry flavor I think.

What is the dress code for specialty restaurants. Do any require collared shirts for men?

Asked by: hfxdeb
Dress codes are posted at the entrance to each restaurant, however they are really just suggestions and NCL staff usually do not make a significant effort to enforce them. When it comes to what to wear, you can go resort casual or get decked-out and look your best - it’s your call. You may dress cruise casual anytime during the day, in the buffet and in most specialty restaurants. For women, it includes summer and casual dresses, skirts, regular or capri pants, shorts, jeans and tops. Khakis, jeans, shorts and casual shirts are fine for men. Swimwear is acceptable at the buffet and outdoor restaurant, but a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required. Tank tops for men, flip flops, baseball caps, visors and jeans that are overly faded, with holes or tears and worn below the hips are not permitted in main dining rooms or specialty restaurants. You can wear smart casual in the more formal dining room or more upscale specialty restaurants. For women, it includes slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. For men, it's jeans or slacks with a collared shirt and closed-toed shoes. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all restaurants.

Are their refrigerators

We are in Room 14114. Is their a refrigerator. I am diabetic and need to keep my insulin cool.
Asked by: ajbeagle
Yes a mini fridge with mini bar items for sale; ask steward to make room for insulin when you board. You can also get ice from Buffett area when you board while waiting for room to be readied; take an empty ziplock or two with you. All rooms have small sharps containers in bathroom now for needles or pen needle tips. (Also a fellow type 1 here!)

Is it best to pre-pay the service charge? Seems like we are charged anyways.

Asked by: CatB
Gratuities are also discretionary. If you want you can go to the main desk on board and tell them you want to pay out yourself. That way if there are a couple on board who give you great service you can make sure they are rewarded. And if you are disappointed in the service....

Which staterooms have bathtubs

which floors have bathtubs and which ships to Alaska and to Canada
Asked by: Myrna
Some of the mini-suites and higher class of stateroom have bathtubs. However not all min-suites have tubs. You may want to look at the floor plan for the room to see if the room has a tub if that is one of your requirements for the stateroom.

Do I need to bring an electricity converter?

Asked by: Carolems
All ships have 110 V and 220 V A/C. The connector is US prongs for 110 V and European style prongs for the 220 V. There is one outlet in your room next to the dressing table and another one in the bathroom. The outlets are limited and are not located next to your bed. You may want to take an extension cord if you want to connect some device next to your bed.

We have 2 side by side balcony rooms. Can you open a door between them on the balcony?

Asked by: rtmdjs
No. The balcony dividers are fire proof doors and to prevent the spread of fire, the doors are locked when the ship is sailing.

Are children allowed in the comedy club and at dueling pianos?

I noticed some places said adults only, but most places did not specify an age group. I’m specifically inquiring about the dueling pianos (Howl at the Moon) and the comedy clubs. I’m hoping there are activities my children and I can enjoy together.
Asked by: Mama34
There are family comedy shows- but there are also late night adult shows, too... check the daily cruise paper that they place on your door for times... as for Howl- as I recall, kids are allowed, but it tends to run bit late- also, don't let them run around all over the place at these shows (I know YOU wouldn't, but there are THOSE people... you know what I mean...)

Where are the smoking areas located on the Escape

Asked by: Camper44
Cigs outside by Spice H20 deck 17 or inside smoking area of casino when it’s open. Cigars only in cigar lounge on deck 8; no cigars in cigarette areas and no cigarettes in cigar area. Yes, you read that right. It’s draconian!

how dose a stateroom looks like

we will like to see the rooms
Asked by: Munecachula
If you look at the Deck plans for the ship, you should be able to navigate to your stateroom and see generic pics and floor plan to your room. I would suggest doing a generic search on any search engine and you will find plenty of websites where guests have posted pics of the room. You should also be able to find videos too.

What's the earliest time to board from original city?

Asked by: Yocko
The check-in process usually starts at around 11 AM and they will let you board the ship around 12 noon. However, you will not be allowed into your staterooms until 2-3 PM to give the staff enough time to clean the rooms. You can have lunch on board the ship and explore the public areas of the ship.

Are the pools heated?

We are traveling out of NYC at the end of March, so I would imagine it's a bit chilly until we are much further south. Additionally, would you recommend bringing coats for the rope courses, etc. during those first couple of days?
Asked by: SAMYsMom
The pools do have the option to be heated. However, the pools are in an open deck.It will be cold once you get out of the pool. As far as the rope course is concerned, it can get windy since you are up in the open area. If you plan to use it on the first couple of days, I would recommend a jacket. It will be cold on the any of the open decks even if you are walking. The ships usually do between 18-20 knots and that adds to the wind chill factor.

Escape entertainment

We were on a 14 day cruise to the Caribbean in January,2019 and are now going on the 15 day transatlantic in April. Has the entertainment changed since then? The Choir of Men; After Midnight etc. were the key shows last year. I was hoping for something different this time.
Asked by: Catharine
We just got off the Escape last week and those two shows were still on the entertainment schedule. The comics were excellent!

are there scheduled meal times like a first seating and a second seating?

I need low sodium meals and thought to sign up for the first seating like on other cruise lines..... so far all the info here is very confusing as to meal arrangements and shows with meals. What are the evening meal times for first seating?
Asked by: maj234
Nope; NCL is freestyle so you eat when you want and don’t have to sit with strangers! Some restaurants charge a fee and they require reservations. The free restaurants (Savor, Taste, Garden Buffett) are more fluid in their approach! Always let the staff know immediately about your dietary needs and they can help!

4 of us will be in room 5168. There is one bed, so where do the other 2 sleep? Will the sound of the water be very noisy?

Asked by: miarelle
Each stateroom has two full sized beds that can be pushed together to make a queen sized bed. Depending on the type of room and the room configuration, the third and fourth guests will either sleep on 2 bunk beds attached to the wall or sofa bed or a combination of bunk bed and roll away beds or a sofa bed. Your stateroom steward will open the beds in the evening and close them up in the morning.

Where is the dining podium on the Escape?

Asked by: Njgirljo
Not sure what you mean by dining podium. If you are looking for the complimentary restaurants, it is located on deck 6 & 7. Check the deck plans for it. The complimentary restaurants don't require reservation. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. The specialty restaurants do require reservation and you can make it using the app,the restaurant reservation line on the ship or at the restaurant reservation desk located next to guest services.

Is there a safety meeting when you start to sail?

Asked by: Cucumber
Yes they do this day one. They shut the service down and announce it; your key card tells you where to report. They scan your key card to take attendance; anyone who skips has to attend a make up session. It’s short but necessary training. It is not too bad.

What times are the shows in the main theatre?

Asked by: Katecruiser
They vary somewhat depending upon the length of the show and the departure time from port on any given day, but they usually are scheduled either at 7:00 and 9:00 or 7:30 and 9:30. Once you have made the final payment for your cruise, you will be able to make reservations online for dinner as well as the shows. The specific times for each show on each date will be available online at that time.
