Haven access - guests?

Yes. I have always used an app called Shipmate. Guaranteed ship return, way cheaper, got my money back immediately when weather didn’t allow us to do one excursion. No issues and many family and friends have used as well.

What deck are the lifeboats on on the Escape?

Hi! We are booked for our honeymoon on Deck 9 in 9188. We are concerned that the lifeboats will impede our view, both out and down, from our balcony. We are wondering where the lifeboats are on the ship and if that is something we should be concerned about. Thanks!

I would check Cruise Critic. A lot of people include pictures of the actual room they stayed in. Also an app called Shipmate. I actually found pics of the literal room I booked. You can also chat or call and I'm sure they can tell you. I would assume that they are smart enough to not ruin views when you pay for a balcony : )

Of course, all staterooms are air conditioned. With the balcony door providing fresh air even in the southern Caribbean I've never seen the need for a fan, but to each his own.

Does a specialty dining meal include 2 people?

Our cruise package included 2 specialty dining meals. Is this 2 meals per person, or 1 meal for 2 people? The language on the additional 2 specialty dining meals is vague, i'm assuming its 2 meals per person, but wanted to verify before purchasing more.

If you booked your room for 2 guests then it's for 2 specialty dining MEALS each. La Bistro is the best. My ex is not a "fancy food" kind of person but I convinced him and he loved everything! Moderna is also really good. Make sure you make reservations AS SOON as you can! ( I think about 90 days before the sail date?)

There are no self-serve laundry facilities on any NCL ship. You can send items to the ship's laundry at a nominal cost, similar to your local dry cleaner. They usually run specials mid-cruise - ask your cabin attendant about it.

What is storage in the room like?

Norwegian Escape, Balcony room I can't see any drawers anywhere. I like to unpack when I get there.

There is a nice sized closet with shelves usually, I had a few drawers in my room and also even my giant suitcase fit under the bed. I believe "family rooms" have more storage, but I have never had an issue. The bathrooms are also roomy for a cruise ship so I was able to fully unpack my bathroom items.

Yes, there is a TV in the room, there are a handful of channels catered to NCL, like shopping, and then about your cruise location and such. There are 2 random TV show channels, and 2 random movie channels. Also, a handful of cable news channels. Your TV is also interactive, so you can rent movies on your stay, make reservations, and check your account

We have been on a Carnival Cruise and have teenagers. NCL appears more adult appropriate. Does anyone have experience traveling NCL with a family?

I went on a 9 day cruise with a family of 5. The kids loved it. (ages 15, 12 and 8) We had friends with us and their daughters were 16 and 18. The teens hung out all over the boat, they really loved the hot tubs at night and the "midnight" buffet was literally and every night thing. They have mini golf, ropes courses, rock walls, water park rides, ping pong etc etc. They were not interesting in the teen club. I liked that I felt safe (when they were in a group) to let them have independence and explore the boat. I would just make sure you pick a boat that has things to do that your kids will like. They also went to the shows and loved them as well. It was Breakaway I think and the shows were Burn the Floor and one about Johnny Cash-cant remember the name but they were AMAZING. Also comedy clubs have a "more appropriate" earlier show for families. We did have to be on deck 5 bc that is the only floor with family cabins that sleep 5. They also came and pulled down the bunk bed and made it daily, which I wasn't expecting.

It's just a color-coded reference to the various types of staterooms. If you click on a stateroom type in the Deck Plans, you'll see the Stateroom Code - e.g. MB for Club Balcony Suite - in a colored block. In this way you can see where the different staterooms are located on each deck.

As far as I know the comedy club is just first come, first serve. You should make reservations for the main shows (usually 7pm and 9 pm) and restaurants as soon as you can : )
