Has anyone stayed on Deck 14? We got upgraded to a spa mini suite but I'm worried about the noise since we're right under the pool.

Asked by: Moonrose
I have heard of some people complaining about noise from the pool deck but I've stayed on the deck below and never had an issue. Again it may depend on the exact location of stateroom.

Is there a place to get ice cream on the ship - maybe soft serve 24/7?

I am booked on the Getaway for a Transatlantic cruise in the fall
Asked by: loodlely
There are a couple of soft serve machines in the buffet area and it should be available anytime the buffet area is open. However, the buffet area is not open 24/7.

All the staterooms have a mini-fridge and the fridge is stocked. If you need to use the fridge, you can always ask your cabin steward to clear it.

Hello, just want to see if there are any special night on the cruise as captain's night that all guest required to dress up? wondering if i need to pack an outfit for that. please advise.
Asked by: BillyCCC
There will be one or two "dress up or not" nights during your cruise. Passengers are encouraged to wear their finest, but it is not required. Some passengers do bring formal clothes for these nights, but you may wear cruise casual attire if you choose. The captain usually will be available for photos on these occasions.

Getaway boarding time in Copenhagen

This July, on the Getaway, we are leaving Copenhagen a 5:00PM. How early will they let us board the ship?
Asked by: Surfratphil
The check-in process usually starts at around 11 AM and they will let you board the ship around 12 noon. However, you will not be allowed into your staterooms until 2-3 PM to give the staff enough time to clean the rooms. You can have lunch on board the ship and explore the public areas of the ship.

Embarkment day

Can you check in earlier than the time you selected or will they make you wait until the original time selected?
Asked by: Nocdreams
They are not too particular about the check-in time. To limit long lines during check-in they prefer guests to check-in at designated times but if you do get there early they will allow you to check-in.

If the itinerary says we'll arrive at port of call at 7am, at what time can we actually disembark?

In the Baltic Cruise
Asked by: conmiz
It depends upon when the local authorities clear the ship for debarkation, but usually it takes about 30 minutes to an hour. One exception is St. Petersburg, though, where it can take more than two hours to clear customs.

Can you stay in the spa after a treatment?

If I buy a massage at the spa, can I use the sauna or thermal pool before or after my massage?
Asked by: lawyerinok
There is an additional charge for using the spa services and facility. The ship will offer different kinds of packages for the spa. The packages vary ship to ship and by the ship's itinerary. Since the package details are not advertised on the website, the only way you can find out about the packages and cost is onboard the ship.

Shore excursion credits will be deducted automatically from your on-board account following each NCL tour you take. Just sign up for a shore excursion, take the tour, and that evening or the following day the credit will appear on your bill.

Is it allowed/reasonable to bring a empty refillable water bottle on board?

Also, is the water in the stateroom taps good. Are there bottle refill stations around the ship?
Asked by: LoriV
Yes, you may bring a refillable water bottle with you. The only water fountains in public areas are in the buffet and they have signs asking that guests not use them to refill a water bottle. The water in your stateroom comes from the same source as in the restaurants, however. The ship produces fresh water by means of a reverse osmosis purifier, making the water on board, including that in your stateroom, more pure than that of most municipal water systems.

Dining Package on the Norwegian Getaway

The dining packages on the Norwegian Get Away do not include a description for American Diner, Food Republic Los Lobos, Bayamo by Ocean Blue, Pincho Tapas Bar, Q Texas Smokehouse, and Sushi. Other restaurants have a photo and description. What am I overlooking?
Asked by: BEM1100
Most of these restaurants are not on the Getaway. I believe the American Diner, Food Republic, Los Lobos, Tapas Bar and Q Texas Smokehouse are on the ships built after the Getaway. There is Ocean Blue and a Sushi bar on the Getaway.

Norwegian Getaway Mid Ship Balcony Room #10262-Mediterranean Cruise

We are a family of 4 and we are hoping room #10262 has two twins =queen, a pullman bed, and a sofa couch. Can anyone confirm the layout? If you had another room with a pullman bed, please let me know the room number. Thank you for your help!!
Asked by: kdfjsdlkajfdklsjfdklfjsdk
Room 10262 is a category BB Balcony stateroom located mid-ship on the port side of Deck 10. There are two single beds which can be pushed together to form a queen size bed. This bed is near the center of the room, and is oriented with the foot of the bed toward the front of the ship and the head of the bed toward the rear. There also is a sofa which can be made into a bed. It is located between the primary bed and the sliding glass door which leads to the balcony. Your stateroom is rated for four passengers. I have not been inside this particular room, but in most cases a four-passenger room also will feature a Pullman style bed which can be pulled down to form an upper berth above the sofa. A ladder is stored in the closet to assist in climbing into the upper berth. In some cases, however, the sofa may fold out into a double bed instead of there being a Pullman. If you need further assistance or information about the specific layout of the room, you should contact the NCL Reservations Department by phone at the number shown on this website.

Asked by: barneyj
Your Family Mini-Suite is located mid-ship starboard on Deck 12. The entrance to the forward elevator lobby is ten cabins (about 100 feet) from your stateroom. For photos and a floor plan of your room, please click on the Deck Plans link above. There is a coffee maker in your room, but not a clothes iron. You can borrow an iron for a brief period of time by contacting the Guest Services Desk or simply asking your stateroom attendant.

What side of the ship faces land on the Greek Isles cruise? Port or Starbord?

We are traveling on the Getaway in June 2020 and want to be on the side of the ship that faces the land more than the open sea. So which side should I be on? Port or starbord?
Asked by: mckeonkeys
When you look at the cruise details, there is a map with arrows that shows the path the ship will take from port-to-port. Also be aware, ports sometimes change for a variety of reasons. A change may alter the path the ship takes as it sails to the remaining stops. In June, and on this particular itenerary, this probably will not be an issue, but we were diverted on a previous trip because there was a medical emergency, so you just never know if weather, mechanical, or health issues may impact a trip.

Bow View? Whenever I'm on a boat, I like to stand on the Bow, to look where we're going.

I don't believe I was able to do that on the Getaway. (You could only get close on Deck 17 if paid for Haven.) There didn't seem to be any general access to the actual Bow; (like outdoors on Deck 9 or 17, or indoors on Deck 15 or 16.) Why is that ? Are the other NCL ships laid out like that ?
Asked by: Cottontail
You can view the design of each of NCL's ships by clicking on the "Deck Plans" link for each ship. Some do have open decks near the front of the ship and some have forward observation lounges, but the forward-most part of the bow is a restricted area on all ships.

Does this ship (Getaway) have a public sauna?

Asked by: mnwolf44
Yes, in Mandara Spa on Deck 15. There is a sauna, steam room, salt room, and spa pool. You may purchase a pass to the spa either by the day or for the entire length of the cruise. We went there yesterday and plan to visit again this afternoon. It is wonderfully relaxing.

Are we allowed to use walkie talkies to communicate aboard ship?

My cellular provider roaming does not include cruise ships, and pay per use texting will get expensive. Trying to find a way to keep in touch with my teens, while on board.
Asked by: Nbrandt720
Two-way radios, or "walkie talkies," are allowed on board, but you may find that they are less than effective because the steel hull of the ship can create signal interference. Another option is to have everyone in your party download the Norwegian App on their cell phones. It is a convenient and effective way to communicate with family and friends while on board the ship.

Is the dart board in the pub a regular bristle dart board, or a digital soft tip board?

Wondering is we should bring our own darts, which are regular steel tip darts?
Asked by: paulineandjeff
No, you should leave your darts at home. Since they have sharp steel points they could be considered dangerous weapons and probably would be confiscated. Please see this link for a complete list of prohibited items:
