When docked in Havana, which side of the ship has the city view from the balcony- port or starboard?

Asked by: kidelle
There is no set side on which the ship docks. It is up to the Captain to decide at the time of docking at the port.

We are in a balcony and will have three large suitcases
Asked by: Snuggles
Each stateroom has one full length closet and plenty of drawers. The suitcases will easily fit under the bed (even the large ones).

What is the speed of the WiFi on the Sun

None
Asked by: Greatest
Very slow. I've never done a speed test on the internet speed but you do have to remember that the internet connectivity is through satellite communication. By the very nature and distance involved it is very slow.

Exactly what amenities are in cabins on the Norwegian Sun - Deck 8 - Balcony Room-Are there hair dryers in the bathrooms? Robes? Is there a fridge?

Just wondering if I need to bring a hair dryer ? Is there a small refrigerator/freezer compartment in the room ? Robes to use ?
Asked by: charsalpha
There is a hair dryer in the bathroom but it is attached to the wall and can only be used in the bathroom. It is also a bit different than the one most use at home. Had I known, I would have brought my own to use so that my husband could use the shower / bathroom while I dried my hair in the room. Also, there is only one outlet in the cabin that can be used for plugging in items. There are USB charging ports by the lights on either side of the bed. There is a mini fridge stocked with items to purchase. Not too much room for anything else though you may be able to have them remove the items to make more room for what you need. No robes. Oh and they do provide beach towels.

Steamer

Can I bring a small clothes steamer onboard the Sun?
Asked by: AngieP
No. Due to fire hazard issues, the staterooms do not have clothes iron and you are not allowed to bring irons on board the ship. However, you can request the Guest Services Desk or the cabin stewards they will be happy to bring you an iron and ironing board for a few hours. Since steamers have a heating element, they fall in the same category as irons and cannot be brought onboard the ship.

How do the dining plans work with ala carte restaurants?

Asked by: rkb41
I am assuming you are referring to the buffet style restaurants. You just walk in and fill up your plate and find a seat. You can go back up as often as you'd like.

If the ship has a cigar lounge, you can smoke cigarettes & cigars in the smoking lounge. Here's the link for more details on it http://www.ncl.com/faq#smoking

Is it possible/easy to get on and off the ship in Havana? I am hoping to return to the ship mid-day for a break.

I can't tell if there's a tender or if you walk on/off the boat, and how easy it may be to get through security. It's a long stop and I was hoping to come back to the ship for a break before my night excursion.
Asked by: FoodLvvvr
Yes! I was just there. There is no tendering. It takes a little bit of time to clear customs on your first trip off the ship. Once you go through customs, your passport is stamped. Getting back onto the ship is easy. When you want to get back off, you just need to show them your stamped passport. I did a tour during the day, went back to the ship to freshen up and relax then went to the Tropicana in the evening. They barely glanced at my passport the second time around.

Is there parking near where the ship departs from. We are driving to Miami and need to know where to park.

Asked by: Horseman
Parking is available at the port. There are additional private parking garages outside the port. Some of them offer free shuttle to the port. A simple search on any web search engines will show you the private parking garages and the daily cost. Parking at the port is slightly more expensive but convenient.

I have heard that the Sun is all inclusive? Is this correct?

Asked by: DRINKS
It depends on what your definition of "all-inclusive" is. The pools/hot tubs are free. Dining choices except specialty restaurants are free. Open bar (where indicated) is free, but drinks such as a Rusty Nail (two liquors) would incur a charge for one of the additional liquors. Spa services are fee based as are fitness classes. Use of the Pulse fitness center is free, just not classes. Obviously casinos are not free, nor is merchandise in any of the shops. You also pay for any excursions off the ship, but tenders to and from the ship are free.

Is there a formal Captains Dinner

Asked by: Mykhael
You are cruising Freestyle. Formal clothes are not required on NCL. You can wear "smart casual" clothes to the specialty dining rooms and the main dining rooms. There are no formal nights but they do have "Dress up or not" nights where formals are suggested (but not required). NCL ships don't have a formal Captain's dinner.

Driving to Port Canaveral. Is there a parking lot to leave car parked for 5 days, what is the cost, and how far from port? Is there a shuttle to port?

Asked by: Seyer35
Parking is available at the port as well as in Cocoa Beach. An internet search using a mapping program should lead you to several choices. The last time we were there we stayed at a motel in Cocoa Beach and found a shuttle bus service online to take us to the port. If you do not wish to pay the parking fees for the parking lot at the port itself, you might need to check with several motels in town to find one that will allow you to park in exchange for spending the night there.

Which deck is better book a room on deck 8 or 9?

Asked by: Olneyss
The staterooms on Deck 8 are very similar to those on Deck 9, so there should be little difference between the two. One consideration that may be of importance to you is that the rooms on Deck 9 have other staterooms both above and below them, while Deck 8 staterooms have another stateroom above them but public areas such as the casino underneath them. You may experience unwanted noise from Deck 7 if you book a room on Deck 8.

when it lists "dining pkg" as one of your free options (when you take all 5) which one do you get? i can't find the number of dinners included.

It just says pkg and doesn't list number of meals

It depends on the length of your cruise. With a cruise of a week in length you receive three dinners in specialty restaurants. Cruises of one to two weeks get four specialty restaurant meals, while those of two weeks or more get five.

Does the smart casual apply to the four night Cuba cruises for the complimentary dinning options? Or is any casual dress allowed. I will also have a 10 year old boy and wasn't planning on more than a polo and khakis for his nicer clothing.
