But first, explore the massive Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. Wildlife abounds in Costa Rica and Puntarenas is no exception. Take a tour to see scarlet macaws, crocodiles and jaguars. For handmade crafts, Puerto Quetzal can’t be beat. Head to the terminal to find incredible bead work, leather goods and Panama hats.
