Cruise Elephant Island/Cape Lookout

Situated off the coast of Antarctica, Elephant Island is named after the elephant seals that populate it and due to the island being shaped like an elephant head. Rugged mountains, glistening sheets of ice and unique wildlife add to the mystique of this remote destination. Despite its seemingly unforgiving, yet hauntingly beautiful landscape, legions of tuxedoed-looking penguins waddle across the rocky terrain whilst giant elephant seals lounge on its shores.

Deception Island, Antarctica

Deception Island is a mountainous, horseshoe-shaped destination located off the coast of Antarctica in the South Shetland Islands. Home to an active volcano and eight nesting seabirds, Deception Island is a wildlife lover's paradise. The largest group of penguins in the Antarctic Peninsula, and possibly the world, is located here. At any given moment, tens of thousands of chinstrap penguins waddle about, slipping in and out of the frigid waters. The active volcano geothermally heats the island's black-sand beach and warms the nearby water, providing a unique landscape in an otherwise frozen world.

Cape Horn, Chile

Located on the small island of Hornos Island, Cape Horn is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago of southern Chile. Although it’s not the most southern point of South America (the Diego Ramírez Islands holds that claim), Cape Horn marks the northern boundary of the Drake Passage, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Pacific Ocean. Discovered and first rounded by the Dutchman Willem Schouten, Cape Horn was a major point where ships carried trade around the world until the Panama Canal opened in 1914.
