hrs Estimate Duration
Depart from the Malacate Pier on your air conditioned bus for a scenic 75 minute ride. Pass through the village of Mango Creek which began as a sawmill settlement in the 1940’s and still has unpaved streets. Continue to Belize’s hinter lands, where you will observe the panoramic vista of the ancient Mayan Mountains. Pass several quaint Mayan villages as well as pine and hardwood forests on the way to your river rafting adventure. When you reach Big Falls Outpost, located within a privately owned jungle eco-lodge property, you will be warmly greeted by our well trained staff, who will show you the restrooms and where to rent lockers or water-shoes if needed. Once you are changed and ready for your rafting adventure, you will receive an orientation and safety briefing. Now you are ready to re-board your bus for a short ride on an unpaved road through the village of Big Falls. Once at the river rafting site you will receive your life-jacket and raft for a leisurely rainforest river rafting adventure.
Enjoy the scenery as you gently float along this beautiful, spring-fed jungle river. You and your rafting crew will maneuver your raft around the river bends of this scenic and blissful waterway.
Upon reaching the end of your rafting tour, your guide will assist you in exiting your raft and will then lead you along a jungle trail for a short educational 5 minute walk back to the Big Falls Outpost. Here you will have a change to change into some dry clothes, relax, purchase snacks and refreshments or buy an authentic Mayan handicraft, photos or other souvenirs.
As you relax on your bus trip back to the pier and your ship you will have a chance to reflect on your adventure and your time spent in beautiful southern Belize.
