Your tour begins with a 30 minute drive through the town of Philipsburg over "the hill", enjoying scenic views along the way. Once at the kayak terminal you’ll receive a thorough briefing introducing beginners or refreshing more experienced paddlers. With your life jacket on and paddle in hand your guides help you board your two person sit-on-top kayak for a scenic trip into the Simpson Bay Lagoon. At your pace, follow your guide across the bay and under the bridge into the lagoon - the largest saltwater lagoon in the north eastern Caribbean. You’ll continue to receive instructions from your guide on your paddling technique as you cross through the lagoon and marvel at the magnificent mega yachts that make St. Maarten their winter base from November to April.
After passing the luxurious marinas, you’ll make a stop to rest your muscles and learn about St. Maarten’s vibrant history as well as the lagoon’s complex ecosystem which includes mangrove trees, birds, iguanas, fish and other sea life. After your brief stop, you’ll paddle on to a beach for an approximate 30 minute swim prior to returning to the kayak terminal. The kayak paddle ends at the scenic Kim Sha Beach where you enjoy a complimentary beverage prior to re-boarding the transportation for the return to the pier.
