    Tarcoles River Eco-Cruise Adventure

    This adventure tour takes place in the Guacalillo Estuary on the Tarcoles River that forms the northern border of the Carara Biological Reserve. It’s home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the world with individuals up to 20 feet long that can live up to 60 years. In addition to the crocodiles, over 50 different bird species might be seen on site. This estuary is famous for its mangrove forests and is one of the nesting sites of the very rare scarlet macaw and a great variety of resident and migrant waterfowl, iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards.


    Your adventure begins with a one hour ride on coastal and countryside roads, passing small towns en route to the premises of the Jungle Crocodile Safari created by the veterinarian Mr. Mario Orjuela in 1993. Using catamaran-style boats, you’ll be able to observe these wild animals from a safe distance. A delicious tropical fruit buffet will be waiting for you at your return with tropical fruit drinks and coffee. Ample time for purchasing crafts made by local artisans will be given.

    Discovering The Ligurian Coast By Rubber Boat

    Explore the pastel-colored town of Lerici as a prelude to cruising around the islands in the surrounding Bay of La Spezia. Although a medieval castle dominates Lerici, there is much more to see, including the 13th-century Oratory of San Rocco and former Jewish quarter. The narrow streets are wonderfully atmospheric with fine shops characteristic of the Italian Riviera. In time, you will board a private boat for an enlightening cruise around the bay, which is also known as Poet’s Gulf in reference to Lerici once being a celebrated enclave for poets and writers. Lord Byron, Percy and Mary Shelley and D.H. Lawrence were all inspired by the setting. You will be treated to close-up views of the islands Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto in the bay’s westernmost part.     The Osprey traverse gets its name from the bird of prey that is commonly seen perched on our decks and consist of 3 easy flights. The first flight south is the shortest traverse at 185 feet; it is also the tallest at 120 feet above the ground. We said it was easy, we didn’t say it wouldn’t be scary!


    Start the second flight by be stepping off the platform 75-feet above the ground to soar some 850 feet to next landing perched just 75 feet above the ground.


    Ascending a series of stairs takes you up to your launching pad for the final 900-foot zip to ground level back to where it all started.

    Tour includes step-free routes, shorter distances and no stairs. Accessible restrooms with wide doors for wheelchairs are present along the tour route. Vehicles are adapted with an access ramp (or lift where available) to accommodate a limited number of wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters. Guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs; therefore, guests needing special assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied.

    Experience incredible medieval art and architecture in Pisa’s glorious Field of Miracles and then explore more medieval treasures in the town Lucca. Few attractions are quite so iconic as the quartet of medieval masterpieces in Pisa —the Leaning Tower, Duomo, Baptistery and Camposanto. The guide will elaborate on the historical importance of this UNESCO World Heritage site while you take in its architectural beauty. In the nearby National Museum of San Matteo, you will see works of art from various ecclesiastical buildings throughout the province. Next, you will continue to Lucca, which the Romans founded in 180 BC. While little from that time remains, historical architecture is still the town’s most outstanding feature, especially its remarkably intact Renaissance walls. While meandering about, you may notice an odd curve to some streets. The reason is that the buildings lining them follow the footprint of the massive walls that once supported a Roman amphitheater.
