Your tour begins at a private downtown marina, where you are outfitted head to toe. You'll board an open-air boat and glide into a breathtaking landscape. With custom light tackle, you'll experience the thrill of angling for numerous Alaskan bottom fish species and whichever of the five species of Pacific salmon are in season. Try your luck fishing in crystal-clear waters teeming with salmon, while enjoying a stunning backdrop of glacier-carved bays and fjords and the natural beauty of Tongass National Forest. Ketchikan is known as the Salmon Capital of the World, so there is no better place to catch these highly prized sportfish. Once you reach the prime fishing grounds, a deckhand will supply you with fishing gear and you will troll for salmon using a downrigger. Anglers will rotate from rod to rod, so that everyone has the same amount of time on each one. Five species of salmon live in these waters, including king salmon, which are also called Chinook salmon. Pink salmon are the most abundant species and they are vigorous fighters. If you want to keep what you catch, it can be processed and shipped anywhere in the United States.

The Island Zipline Adventure course is a combination of the Osprey Zipline plus the Seahawk Zip to give you six high-flying zips plus a series of V-net bridges, chimney climbs and cargo nets, designed to challenge but not overwhelm your physical and mental strength. Tour starts with an elevator ride to the top of the Flighthouse.

With platforms at 120-feet above ground and top speed of over 50 mph, your senses will be dazed with adrenaline as you zip out over the beach and reef of Great Stirrup Cay. The V nets allow you to transverse from one zipline to another while providing you with bird’s-eye view of your fellow guests, the many islands to the South or the turquoise waters and their inhabitants below.

For those feeling extra strong and confident we’ve added an almost vertical cargo net climb or by-pass the cargo net and continue the course via the chimney climb and V net bridges.

OVERVIEW

Ride an electric bike inland to Connell Lake while admiring the natural beauty of the surrounding Tongass National Forest. As you will discover during the initial briefing, the electric-enhanced bicycle will boost your pedal power, allowing you to ride farther and negotiate hills with considerably less effort than with a conventional bicycle. It’s only about three miles to the Connell Lake, all of it staggeringly beautiful. Sitka black-tailed deer are commonly seen along this route. The flora is also exceptional, especially the carnivorous sundew plants that consume insects that they trap on their sticky pads. Upon reaching the lake, you will learn how it was created in 1952 by damming several creeks to provide millions of gallons of freshwater to the Ketchikan pulp mill. The dam continues to feed water to different resources throughout the community even after the pulp mill closed more than 25 years ago. Before pedaling back, you can relax around a campfire under a canopy of coniferous trees or walk a short nature trail.

Your adventure takes you to a hidden underground world the Mayans called Chaak Tun–named for the Mayan god of rain–literally meaning “Chaak’s Rain of Stone.” Explore the mysteries of the cenotes and sacred underground river as you cleanse your heart, mind and spirit while learning of the mythology behind these natural wonders.

Visit two mystical caverns and underground rivers, discovering its amazing formations; stalactites and stalagmites reaching from floor to ceiling while snorkeling and swimming through the crystal-clear, sacred waters that purify and rejuvenate. Before the next experience, you will be greeted and welcomed by a local shaman to the Temazcal. Learn about the importance of this ancient cleansing process and experience it yourself. Savor the time for yourself while you purify your body through a relaxing steam bath with the use of medicinal plants, an ancestral ritual practiced in Mesoamerica employed for cleansing, medicinal, and spiritual purposes.

Afterwards enjoy a Mexican lunch, featuring local favorites and learn about the tequila making process, a trademark of Mexican culture. At the conclusion of this memorable adventure, return to Playa del Carmen to board the ferry that will take you back to the ship's pier.

Enjoy a scenic drive through the distinctive Dutch countryside from Amsterdam to the village of Marken. Follow your guide on a walk through this quaint fishing hamlet on the shores of the former Zuider Zee, an area that dates back to the 13th century when monks constructed dikes for protection from the sea. The characteristic green and white clapboard houses of Marken have remained unchanged for centuries and, many of the l residents still wear colorful ancestral costumes, adding to the special atmosphere of this beautiful place.

Visit the quaint village of Volendam, where your guide introduces you to some of the town's special treasures, some dating back to the 14th century. As you walk through town, you'll find narrow canals, quaint drawbridges; and a charming little harbor.

During your tour, you will also visit a cheese producing dairy farm.

Begin your tour with an action-packed performance at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show where you will celebrate a bygone era. Southeast Alaska’s rich logging history comes to life with thrilling displays of strength and agility. These world champion athletes wearing spiked boots and hard hats, compete in 12 athletic events that utilize seven-pound axes, six-foot razor-sharp saws, tree climbing gaffs, and souped-up chainsaws. This will be one hour of non-stop excitement and laughs that is unique to all of Alaska. Join us in Saxman Native Village for a culinary experience to learn all about Alaskan ingredients and their uses in a modern cooking environment. The culinary tasting will offer a unique setting to enhance your culinary knowledge and expand your palate with true Alaskan ingredients. Start with an Alaskan styled charcuterie board prepared with smoked salmon, wild game meats, artisan cheeses and fruits; followed by two additional courses selected by the Chef. Sit and marvel as the Chef goes through the ingredients and demonstrates the techniques used for preparing one of the dishes. All these items pair deliciously with the local wines and beers included. The culinary demonstration is complemented by a cultural showcase of Alaska Native art, featuring a variety of priceless and historical pieces from the Cape Fox Corporation Native Art Collection. Some of these artifacts include traditional hand carved pieces by Master Carver, Nathan Jackson, along with other items coming from the original Village of Cape Fox. Your local tour host will teach the Tlingit customs, traditions, and stories of the Elders as they guide you through the exhibits.

Visit the cliffside at La Quebrada cove and witness a performance presented by the world famous cliff divers of Acapulco. Using skill and experience, the divers have to time the beginning of their dive so that the waters in the cove are deep enough when they hit them. The breathtaking highlight of the show will be when the master diver plunges headlong over 130 feet into the ocean waters below from the uppermost level of the jagged cliff.

Discover the wonders of Hawaii’s highest volcano while atop its summit and behold a roaring cascade named for the rainbows in its mist. Your immersion into the natural sciences will begin at the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy visitor center, where you will learn about the advanced telescopes on sacred Mauna Kea volcano and about rare endemic plants such as the delicate silversword that only on grows at altitudes above 5,000 feet. Mauna Kea is nearly three times that high and to reach its summit you will ascend in a 4x4 vehicle. The volcano is nicknamed the White Mountain as it is sometimes snow-capped. The views on the way up will be breathtaking as will be the epic vistas that await you at the very top. The sight of Rainbow Falls will also be spectacular as the 80-foot cascade lies within a mango orchard and usually creates rainbows as the sun shines through the plummeting water.

Spend an enlightening day at a farm in Tuscany that produces a multitude of organic foods, many of which will be used as ingredients in your lunch. As an introduction to the artisanal practices at the Diacceroni farm, you will see how honey is produced and sample several varieties of the natural sweetener, which may include an amber chestnut honey and a floral-flavored acacia honey. Similarly, you will discover how the farmers use traditional methods to grow and harvest the crops. In preparation for the afternoon cooking class, you will gather a selection of fresh vegetables and herbs from the farm’s fields and gardens. You will then use those ingredients to concoct your delicious four-course lunch under the chef’s watchful eye. The dishes will be thoughtfully paired with organic wines. Afterwards, you’ll spend some time with a wine expert and agronomist who will talk with you about environmental ethics and biodiversity.
