Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Strengthens Commitment to Environmental Conservation with Signing of Cruise Charter - EU - EN -

Wiesbaden - Jul 25, 2019

Cruise Company becomes first to participate in an incentive program to

promote sustainable cruise operations in the port of Cannes

CANNES, FRANCE – July 25, 2019 – Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (the “Company”), a leading global cruise company operating Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, today reinforced its commitment to marine and environmental conservation by becoming the first cruise line to sign a Cruise Charter created by the Municipality of Cannes together with the CCI Nice Côte d’Azur to promote sustainable cruise operations in the port of Cannes.

The Cruise Charter is based on four criteria designed to promote sustainable cruise operations in the port of Cannes: reduction of air emissions, reduction of pollution at sea, protection of biodiversity and the implementation of a global environmental approach. The charter becomes effective July 25, 2019 and applies retroactively for the 2019 season. In appreciation of the Company's support and operational costs associated with participating in this agreement, which are mainly attributed to increased fuel and waste offload charges, the Port of Cannes is granting all of the Company's ships calling into the Port of Cannes a rebate on the port tax of 0.20€ applicable per passenger.

“We are honored to be the first and only cruise line to join this pioneering initiative developed by the Municipality of Cannes and CCI Nice Côte d’Azur,” said James S. Mitchell, Vice President Marine HSEM (Health, Safety, Environment and Medical) at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “We also appreciate Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services for facilitating this agreement. Marine and coastal conservation is a vital part of our company’s global environmental program, ‘Sail & Sustain,’ and we work closely with all of the ports and destinations we visit worldwide to ensure we meet or exceed local regulations and guidelines to help protect the environment.”

The agreement was signed during a ceremony that took place in Cannes, France on July 25, 2019, in the City Hall of Cannes. Key attendees included James S. Mitchell, Vice President Marine HSEM, Health, Safety, Environment and Medical at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., David Lisnard, Mayor of the Municipality of Cannes as well as Jean-Pierre Savarino, President of CCI Côte d'Azur.

"We envisioned this Cruise Charter as an initiative to both promote sustainable cruise operations as well as incentivize those companies that already do a lot to preserve the quality of the air, the sea and the seabed in the bay of Cannes. We are therefore very pleased to welcome Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., a loyal and longstanding partner of the Port of Cannes, as the first participating cruise line in the charter", said David Lisnard, Mayor of the municipality of Cannes.
