hrs Estimate Duration
Discover one of the newest and hottest dive spots in the Caribbean. Until recently, this area was a closely kept secret, known only by the local fisherman. Few places in the world can offer such unspoiled diving! You begin with a short ride through the town of Mahahual to an eco-friendly dive center. Here you’ll be split up into small groups of six or less, fitted with top of the line SCUBA gear and escorted to one of the custom made dive boats for your journey to the spectacular Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. This breathtaking reef is the largest barrier reef system in the Northern Hemisphere, known for its beautiful coral and exotic marine life.
Explore exquisite corals and breathtaking reef formations that form massive ledges and swim-throughs. Sea turtles, lobsters, stingrays, dolphins, eel, king crabs, and barracuda are commonly seen in this area, as well as an endless variety of tropical fish. After your dive, you may return to the ship or stay and experience the local culture and beaches. The town offers quaint shops, restaurants, bars, arts and crafts booths. Guests who wish to stay in Mahahual will be responsible for their own transportation back to the ship. Taxis are abundant for an easy return.
