St. Peter Port & Castle Cornet
hrs Estimate Duration
Discover St. Peter Port up close during this enlightening walking tour that includes a visit to Castle Cornet.
Departing the pier on foot, your knowledgeable guide will regale you with tales of how passengers, porters and privateers made their way from the busy port, up into the steep lanes and passageways, which linked the quay with the town.
Smuggling, legalized piracy and, of course, the wine trade are the subjects of your guide's commentary as you make your way along the seafront towards the majestic medieval Castle Cornet.
Entering the castle, built in the 13th century, you will begin to understand what life was like for those living in this imposing fortress. You will re-live the medieval myths, murders and manifestations which took place in this captivating stronghold. During your visit, enjoy a taste of local fruit bread, gache (pronounced "gosh"), as well as coffee.
Subject to sailing time, you may then choose to remain at Castle Cornet to independently explore the excellent museums, or you may return at your leisure on foot towards the center of St. Peter Port and the pier.
