Maui Highlights

Discover the wealth of produce grown in Maui’s volcanically rich soil and observe Hawaii’s abundant marine life in the Western Hemisphere’s largest tropical aquarium. From the comfort of an open-air trolley train, you will travel through the fertile fields and orchards of the Maui Tropical Plantation. Fruits such as pineapple and mango flourish there, as do lesser-known items such as rambutan, ulu and taro – the starchy root traditionally used to make the Hawaiian staple poi. Meandering through the Maui Ocean Center will be just as eye-opening, especially its 3D Sphere, an immersive film experience that presents the underwater world of humpback whales like never before. While browsing the other exhibits, you may see America’s largest live coral display, toxic pufferfish, frolicking seals and green sea turtles. Many of the species, such as the bandit angelfish and freckled snake eel, are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, so observing them is even more special.
