Drive to Wat Krom, a pagoda where many residents of Sihanoukville practice Buddhism. Here, you may see monks chanting, and young monks learning Pali, the sacred language of the Buddhist scriptures. Most of the pagodas in town are brightly painted and decorated with deities, many represented by hooded snakes, particularly king cobras.
Stop for photos at the famed Golden Lion Monument located on a roundabout, named for its statues of these jungle beasts. Make your way to a bustling local market, known for extraordinary seafood, which you’ll see displayed here along with fresh vegetables.
You will also stop for a visit at the Wat Lu Pagoda, where you will find peaceful surroundings and splendid decorations. The temple sits on a hill surrounded by wild and lush vegetation, with statues of lions and serpents guarding the entrance. You may also find wild resident monkeys who like to hang around the area.
Your final stop is at one of the city’s most popular beaches where you’ll have approximately a half hour to relax and soak in the ambiance or take a walk on the beach.
