OVERVIEW

Discover how Tallinn has evolved over the centuries by exploring its historical landmarks and contemporary attractions that showcase the capital’s creative side. A look at Linnahall – a complex the Soviets built for the 1980 Olympics in Moscow – is a reminder that Estonia was once Communist. The early history of Tallinn will come alive in the upper Old Town and in the medieval lower town, where you will browse the history museum in the Great Guild Hall. Its exhibits detail Tallinn’s flourishing trade and prosperity when it was a member of the Hanseatic League, beginning in the 13th century. The focus with turn to the arts upon reaching Telliskivi and Noblessner, two former industrial districts that now house galleries, boutiques and restaurants. Highlights include viewing contemporary works at the Kai Art Center, dining on innovative Estonian cuisine at Lore Bistroo and sampling a selection of unusual craft beers at Põhjala Brewery, which occupies a converted submarine factory.

Note: This tour includes minimum walking of approx. 1500 meters on flat and cobblestone surfaces with approx. 100 steps. This tour is not suitable for guests who utilize a wheelchair. Guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. On some days, the visit to Kai Art Center will be replaced with a guided visit to Kumu Museum, Estonia’s largest and most cutting-edge art museum, showcasing Estonian-created works from the 18th to the 21st centuries. Must be at least 21 years old to consume alcohol.
