Meander through the Maui Ocean Center for a close-up view of Hawaii’s spectacular marine life with a special emphasis on humpback whales. To better understand the diversity of species in the Hawaiian Islands, you might browse exhibits featuring America’s largest live coral display, toxic pufferfish and green sea turtles – known locally as honu. Tour the island’s only cacao farm and see how beans from the trees are made into custom chocolates. Now the largest chocolate factory in Hawaii, the Maui Ku’ia Estate sustainably produces chocolates from the seeds of the cacao trees that thrive on its 20 acres of farmland. As you walk through the orchard, a guide will describe the chocolate-making process step by step, show you how the cacao seeds are harvested and explain how the farm maintains a net-zero carbon footprint through solar power and eco-friendly packaging. During the tasting that follows in the shade of a thatched hale tree house, you will sample an assortment of milk and dark chocolates that may be flavored with mango, cappuccino, peppermint and coffee. Feast on authentic Polynesian cuisine and watch a mesmerizing performance of singing and dancing at the Drums of the Pacific Luau at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Paddle around Kahului Harbor in an outrigger canoe while admiring the seaside landmarks and learning about the history of the Hawaiian Islands. As an introduction, you will watch an entertaining film that describes how ancient Polynesians emigrated to the islands on double-hulled canoes using natural phenomena such as stars and ocean currents to guide them across 2,000 miles of open water. After a briefing under a traditional thatched-roof structure known as a hale, you will paddle off into Kahului’s large sheltered harbor. You may be surprised by the stability of the canoe, much of which comes from the attached outrigger hull. To ensure that you maximize the experience, paddlers from a local canoe club will accompany you and describe harbor highlights such as Kahului Beach and Ho’aloha Park. You will also see where King Kamehameha I landed in 1790 in his successful quest to unify the Hawaiian Islands.

Rise in the wee hours to travel from sea level to 10,000 feet and the top of Haleakala, Maui’s massive volcano. At the summit is a vast crater seven and a half miles long by two and a half miles wide, and 3,000 feet deep. It last erupted in 1790 and has slumbered ever since, though that does not mean it won’t one day wake up. The Hawaiians revere it as a sacred site, and tell tales of Pele, Goddess of Fire and Volcanos.

You’ll be perched on top as dawn breaks and the sun begins to rise, spreading a glow across the landscape. Once it is light enough you’ll marvel at the crater's eerie landscape of cinder cones and ancient lava formations. If the day is clear, you may even make out two other towering peaks – Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island.

Cruise in an open-air Zodiac along the spectacularly scenic Pali sea cliffs and snorkel the lengthy coral reef that lies just offshore. You will zip through the water on the Reef Explorer, a 60-foot custom super-raft with shaded and open-deck seating. Before long, you will arrive at the precipitous heavily vegetated sea cliffs, which will serve as a magnificent backdrop for the snorkeling adventure. Plenty of other natural wonders lie beneath the water’s surface. While there is no telling what you will observe along the reef, it will surely be extraordinary. Red-lip parrotfish, slender needlefish, orange-band surgeonfish and bluefin jacks all inhabit these crystal-clear waters. You may even see white-spotted eagle rays and green sea turtles, the most commonly seen sea turtle in Hawaii. The coral formations are just as eye-catching. Crossing the Auau Channel on an ultra-modern, luxury catamaran, you'll have plenty of room to relax or roam around with its spacious galley, sun deck and trampoline areas while you experience the essence of aloha that the staff and the Hawaiian surroundings exude. Lanai's coast, largely undeveloped, feels unspoiled and remote even though it's just seven miles from Maui. The beauty of Ho’okipa Beach Park is equally captivating, especially the scene offshore as this is a premier spot for surfing and windsurfing because the waves are well-formed and sometimes reach heights of 30 feet. The beach is also one of the best places to see green sea turtles.

This tour is available for prebooking’s only. Soar high above the gorgeous northern shore of Maui in a helicopter and land in a rainforest for a closer look at the tropical landscape. You will fly over thundering waterfalls, the famed windsurfing setting at Ho’okipa Beach, and the mega-surf break at Pe’ahi, a spot with such monstrous swells that it is nicknamed “Jaws.” Many of the locations are so remote that they can only be observed from the air, as there are no roads, only dense jungle and precipitous cliffs. One such site is Keopuka Rock, a steep sliver of an island known as Jurassic Rock because it was featured in the opening sequence of the movie “Jurassic Park.” In time, you will land in a rainforest clearing and toast the experience with a glass of champagne. The landscape there is blanketed with banana trees, papayas, pineapples and lilkoi, a colorful passion flower that grows on a vine.

Cruise through the National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary in a Zodiac, a vessel that is ideal for speedy maneuvering and up-close viewing of marine creatures.

After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a scenic ride across the neck of Maui to lovely Maalaea Bay on the island’s southern shore. Here, you’ll board a Zodiac vessel that can navigate into areas other vessels can’t, offering you a close-up view of the marine life.

You will be cruising into the National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary. It is one of the favorite mating and birthing grounds for humpbacks because of the water’s ideal temperature and depth and the scarcity of killer whales, which are the young humpbacks’ most feared natural predators.

As you zip through the water, you can expect to see humpback whales putting on a spectacular show of breaching the surface, tail and fin slapping, and spy hopping, where only the whale’s head pops out of the water. The males are known for their singing as part of the mating ritual. Humpback whales come to Maalaea Bay each year to breed after a month or so of migrating from their feeding grounds in Alaska, nearly 3,500 miles away.

To enhance the whale-watching experience, a naturalist will be onboard explaining the whales’ behavior during this time of the year. Feel free to ask questions during the two hours or so spent on the water, after which you will return to Kahului.

Enjoy an enlightening and delightful tour through northeastern Maui, experiencing attractions as diverse as a Hawaiiana-themed art studio and shop; a gallery showcasing the island’s most acclaimed collection of works by Hawaii artists, artisans, and jewelers, including an extensive collection of exquisite Ni’ihau shell jewelry; a majestic cascading waterfall in the rainforest; and a premier windsurfing beach overlook. After departing the pier, you’ll take in the highlights of the island’s spectacular north shore, beginning with Makawao town, where you can still see remnants of this historic hamlet’s paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) storied past. Today, Makawao is known more as a thriving arts community. You’ll visit a local gallery displaying a wide array of works by Hawai’i’s most renowned artists, and the studio and shop of one of Maui’s foremost artisans. Enjoy a relaxing, sit-down lunch at a charming café before heading to Ho’olawa Valley, where Maui’s artists often visit for inspiration. You’ll soon understand why when you take a guided nature walk with a leading naturalist. Your destination is an idyllic waterfall overlook in the rainforest. Along the way you’ll learn about the valley’s indigenous flora and fauna. To complement the experience, you’ll enjoy a sampling of fruits and vegetables important in native Hawaiian culture. The last stop is the lovely Ho’okipa scenic lookout, where some of the best waves in Hawai‘i, and frequently green Hawaiian sea turtles (honu), are found. While pausing for photos, you can expect to see surfers riding the waves.

Ride on the slopes of Haleakala by Bicycle. This tour picks up at the Kahului Harbor. We then stop at our bike tour base to watch Maui Bike industry’s only safety video. Complimentary coffee, juice and snacks are provided. From there, our guided van tour up to the launch point at the 6,500 foot elevation begins. Guides will provide clients with an extensive history of Haleakala, its geology and an explanation of the rare plants and animals only found on Maui. Here clients are expertly fitted to their bicycles, given helmets and begin their 14-mile bike ride down the slopes of Haleakala, continuing through the switchbacks of Haleakala Ranch, the upcountry town of Kula and ending in Hali'i Maile from where you will depart back to the cruise ship.

The views from the top are magnificent. If the day is clear, you may even make out two other towering peaks – Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island. From the crater’s rim, you'll be able to appreciate first hand the unique beauty of this imposing caldera with its interesting mix of volcanic rock and plant life, some of which, like the silversword plant, is found only in Hawaii's volcanic craters.

Come aboard as we depart from Ma'alaea Harbor aboard one of our extremely stable, 65 ft., double deck, powered catamarans and head out to our first snorkel site, world-famous Molokini Crater. Maui's iconic crescent-shaped islet is a beautiful reef known for its crystal-clear waters, abundant coral, colorful fish and resting seabirds. A protected marine conservation area, this volcanic crater is only accessible by boat with a certified tour operator. You'll snorkel about an hour at Molokini and then head to your second snorkel site, Turtle Arches, with its underwater lava formations and frequent green sea turtle sightings. Your tour will be led by our certified Marine Naturalists who have a love for our oceans and will educate you about what you'll be witnessing throughout your trip. Your adventure includes a continental breakfast, BBQ lunch, refreshments, 1 complimentary alcoholic drink (beer, wine, tropical well drinks), snorkeling gear, free reef tour by one of our Marine Naturalists, learn-to-snorkel instruction, fish ID class, Junior Naturalist program for kids, and a free wildlife poster from our Ocean Store once you return to the harbor. Moreover, all profits from this and all Eco-tours are used to fund Pacific Whale Foundations' ongoing research, conservation and education programs aimed at protecting our oceans through science and advocacy. If sea conditions make either Molokini or Turtle Arches unsafe, our captains will utilize their experience to select the best possible alternative sites. Sometimes that may mean snorkeling the entire time at Molokini or substituting the Turtle Arches site for another spot know for green sea turtle populations.

Sit back and enjoy the sights along the famed Hana Highway without having to navigate the twisting, curving road yourself. With an expert driver at the wheel, you won’t miss any of the incredible scenery of lava cliffs, tumbling waterfalls, the rugged northern coastline, lush hillsides of feathery ferns and trees laden with tropical fruits. You’ll stop to explore various sites along the way to "Heavenly Hana," in this wonderfully natural and pristine landscape. This tour goes to Hana and returns on the same route. A box lunch is included at the start of the tour.

Savor authentic Hawaiian dishes and beverages at several establishments in the historical district of Wailuku, which nestles at the foot of the West Maui Mountains.

After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive in the heart of historical Wailuku, where you will stop in a variety of unpretentious restaurants and locales to sample pure Hawaiian specialties. Some of the dishes will reflect the town’s Asian and Pacific Islander ethnicities.

While the exact offerings will vary, you can expect to taste breakfast staples such as banana pancakes and hot malasadas, a fried-dough treat that Portuguese sugarcane workers introduced to Hawaii in the late 19th century.

Loco moco is another classic, and the Tasty Crust has been serving it for more than 40 years in Wailuku. The dish is a savory combination of rice, hamburger patty and brown gravy, topped with a fried egg or two.

In all likelihood, you will also sample delectable sashimi, a variety of poke bowls and seasoned saimin noodles. Another favorite is Spam musubi, a handheld with a slice of Spam wedged between two blocks of rice and wrapped in nori, a Japanese seaweed.

You will also sample several beers at the Maui Brewing Company, Hawaii’s largest craft brewery. Selections range from a citrus-flavored India Pale Ale known as Big Swell to Coconut Hiwa Porter, a robust dark ale with hints of mocha.
