Take a one-of-a-kind historical journey through the Panama Canal by watching an IMAX film in 3D that shows how this engineering wonder of the world was created and how it operates today. “Panama Canal—A Land Divided, a World United” is a documentary that clearly explains the complexities and challenges of the canal, past and present. Through extraordinary shots from the air, historical re-creations and up-close views of massive ships passing through the system of locks, you will gain a deeper understanding of the manmade waterway and the ingenuity behind the locks. As incredible as it may seem, it is all done by gravity, without a single water pump. The sheer force of the rising water can lift a 70,000-ton cargo ship three stories high in a mere 10 minutes, allowing it to pass through the canal.
