Few cities in the world are as culturally and geographically diverse as Vancouver, British Columbia. Rising from the waters, the city stands at the base of the most majestic mountain ranges in the world which are home to the world- renowned Whistler/Blackcomb resort Village.
Your tour begins with a drive into the bustling center of Vancouver. With one of North Americas largest Chinatown Districts and a park system right in the downtown area, be sure to bring your camera as there are is a wealth of things you will want to capture as reminders of your visit here. During your tour of the downtown area you will also make your way through the Gastown district, a renovated area of town that has transformed itself into a local hotspot. Be sure to look for the steam powered clock.
You will next travel to Stanley Park, which is larger than New York City's Central Park, and contains sections of old growth forests that are hundreds of years old. Interspersed throughout the Park are wonderful examples of First Nation totem poles and a 5 1/2-mile seawall serves to protect the Park from winter storms that come in from the adjacent Pacific Ocean.
Leaving downtown Vancouver behind, make your way to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park for a treetop adventure. The current suspension bridge crosses a deep gorge of the Capilano River and is 450 feet long. Designed for walking use only, you can actually feel yourself sway as you head towards the far side. Following a progressive series of platforms, you will be treated to a natural experience that includes seeing various species of birds and animal life that live in the surrounding woods.
Following your visit to Capilano Park, you will rejoin your coach and head back to the pier in Vancouver.
