Enjoy a fantastic day of discovery and wine tasting as you learn about the rich history of Requena and its wine making traditions. After a scenic drive, walk through the narrow streets of the old quarter, declared a Spanish Heritage Site, as your guide introduces you to its history and charm. See the churches of Santa Maria and El Salvador with impressive façades, quaint squares with typical houses and stately homes. Right under Plaza de la Villa, you’ll find a maze of man-made caves that were excavated in medieval times to store grain, olive oil and wine and served as shelter from invading armies and battles throughout the centuries. You’ll also learn about wine making in the region during your visit to one of the leading wineries of the area, known for its award winning wines. After visiting the cellars, you’ll taste some of their excellent wines accompanied by local snacks for which the area is also famous for. You’ll also have some time to browse in the wine shop.

Need to Know:

Note: There is approximately 2 hours of walking over cobblestone streets, a few steps and uneven terrain with low lighting at the caves. Touring the caves not recommended for guests who suffer from claustrophobia. Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed to drink wine.
