First, a narrated motorcoach tour takes you to view and photograph Alaska's most famous glacier – the Mendenhall. At the Visitor Center you'll have the opportunity to visit with Forest Service interpreters and, through interactive exhibits, appreciate the landscape-carving force of glacial ice. Next, continue to Auke Bay to board a deluxe catamaran specially designed for wildlife viewing. Relax in the warm, spacious main cabin as you set out to explore Stephen’s Passage, a pristine marine wilderness that is world renowned as a favored summer feeding ground for humpback whales. As whales are sighted, your skilled Captain will gently maneuver the vessel to allow exceptional viewing opportunities. You’ll be amazed by the gracefulness of these ocean giants as they slowly arc their massive tail flukes into the air.

Bring a warm jacket to wear on the observation deck - the whales are often close enough to hear them breathe. If conditions allow, an underwater hydrophone will be deployed so that you may even get to hear their incredible 'singing'. An onboard naturalist will explain the behavior and habitat of the humpback whale, and other wildlife you may encounter, including killer whales, sea lions, porpoise, harbor seals, bald eagles and more. Throughout the voyage you’ll be treated to a delicious variety of appetizers, catered in-house, and featuring locally-Alaskan grown ingredients. Tea, coffee and cocoa will be served. Beer, wine and sodas are available for an additional charge. The operators of this tour guarantee you'll see a whale. If not, you'll receive a $100 cash refund as you disembark the tour vessel. Explore the pristine waters of Icy Strait Point on this tour that highlights the protected waters of Port Frederick. From the pier, you will walk the short distance to the beach at Icy Strait Point where you will receive a safety briefing and kayaking orientation. Following that, you will hop in your two-person kayak and begin your adventure. You'll spend nearly two hours paddling about these pristine waters, delighting in the serenity and joy of being out on the water, as well as having the opportunity to observe the bountiful wildlife that inhabits this wilderness area. Your guide will help you spot animals, explain their habits, and offer all sorts of tidbits to maximize your time kayaking along the shoreline. While there are no certainties regarding what you might observe, humpback whales typically feed along the very same route that you will be traveling. You may see one in the distance breaching the water's surface, waving its fluke before diving, or spy hopping, which is when a whale pokes just its head out of the water to look around. The nutrient-rich waters of Icy Strait are also home to orcas, sea lions, porpoises, sea otters and seals. During your excursion, you will also paddle to an even more serene area, frequented by bald eagles. There are few sights more visually arresting than following the flight of one of these majestic creatures as it rides the wind until swooping down to catch a fish with its talons. After returning to the beach at Icy Strait Point, you will turn in your equipment and head back to the ship, or perhaps visit the nearby Welcome Center.

Travel along the incredibly photogenic Klondike Highway to the Canadian border, while pausing along the way to snap pictures of the gorgeous wilderness. The road pretty much follows the trail that prospectors carved out during the Gold Rush of 1898. The countryside is still largely undeveloped, except for a few bridges and the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway that parallels the road. Named for the first Euro-American settlers in the area, the Captain William Moore Bridge offers a particularly panoramic view of Alaska’s interior. Other roadside stops will be made to view natural attractions such as ancient glaciers and Pitchfork Falls, a lovely cascade that splits into branches that resemble the tines of a pitchfork. After pausing again at the highway sign that marks the Canadian border at White Pass summit, you will travel back down the Klondike Highway toward Skagway. Commentary will enhance your understanding of the attractions and the area’s history.

    HIGHLIGHTS
    • Travel a picturesque highway that follows a trail created during the Gold Rush of 1898. • Snap pictures while pausing at scenic lookouts with views of glaciers and waterfalls. • Stop at the summit of White Pass, which marks the U.S. and Canadian border. • Hear enlightening commentary that describes the area’s history and attractions.

Experience the grandeur of Juneau and the Inside Passage in an exclusive new way during this unforgettable, first-class yacht experience. Your half-day excursion features whale-watching, wildlife-spotting, and a delightful selection food and drink whilst cruising by glaciers and mountains aboard a luxury yacht.

Depart the pier in a Mercedes Sprinter for the scenic, narrated drive through downtown Juneau en route to Auke Bay. Upon arrival and after a comfort stop, take a short walk to your awaiting yacht. After receiving your safety briefing, embark your vessel, the only whale-watching yacht in Alaska, and begin your approximately three-hour whale-watching and wildlife adventure in comfort and style.

Along the way, your USCG master captain and expert naturalist, both whale experts, take you to the best locations, and share their local knowledge of the area and its wildlife. Marvel at your beautiful surrounds, and look for humpback whales, orcas, porpoise, harbour seals, steller sea lions, bald eagles, seabirds, and even the occasional brown or black bear. Whilst your captain navigates the Inside Passage, your naturalist guide discusses the natural history of southeast Alaska. Enjoy an opportunity to hold real baleen and learn how they identify individual humpback whales by name.

Memories will be made while sailing past a stunning backdrop of glaciers and snow-capped mountains. This first-class, exclusive whale-watching experience indulges you with a selection of refreshments. Included are Alaskan beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks, juice, water, coffee, local salmon dip, a beautiful charcuterie board and other snacks. With a maximum capacity of eight guests, this crowd-free, exclusive and personal experience is the best way to embrace the grandeur of Alaska. After disembarking the yacht, re-board your Mercedes Sprinter and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier. Enroute, you'll stop along Brotherhood Bridge for a photo of the Mendenhall Glacier (weather-permitting).
