Stonehenge & Salisbury
hrs Estimate Duration
Immerse yourself in a day of mystery and antiquity by visiting the medieval town of Salisbury and the mythical circle of Stonehenge.
After an approximately 1 hour ride through the scenic countryside of Southern England, you reach the medieval town of Salisbury, whose lofty cathedral spire can be seen from many miles around. Salisbury Cathedral is one of the finest medieval churches in Britain and dates back to the 13th-century. The cathedral contains a remarkable range of monuments, including the oldest working clock in Britain and an original copy of the Magna Carta signed at Runnymede in 1215.
You can remain steeped in the spell of ancient times as you continue this historic tour and journey to the circle of Stonehenge, one of the most intriguing and ancient sites in the U.K. Situated on a vast plain, the site is truly impressive; shrouded in magic and mystery, many believe this sacred site emanates a special atmosphere. Radiocarbon dating reveals this incredible monument was built around 5,000 years ago, during the Neolithic period. Although research tells us how Stonehenge was built, it is unable to tell us what its builders thought and believed, and remains one of the most enthralling mysteries in the world! As you walk around the circle and get close to the impressive stones, your guide will provide explanations.
