Volcano & Rainbow Falls

You’ll begin just outside Hilo at Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot cascade that plunges into a circular pool, creating rainbows in the resulting mist. Hilo is considered one of the world’s orchid capitals, and Akatsuka Gardens is the perfect place to appreciate these tropical beauties that come in a stunning assortment of shapes, sizes, colors and patterns.
A one-hour drive transports you to a very different scene in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where 70 million years of volcanic history are on display. Admire the remarkable view of Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano. Learn about the birth of the still growing Hawaiian Islands at the Jaggar Museum where you'll view the Halemaumau Crater – in Hawaiian mythology said to be home to Pele, Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes.
You'll also have the opportunity to walk through the extinct Thurston Lava Tube, a cave formed by a river of lava. A visit to the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory completes your tour. A boxed lunch will be provided.

Note: While at Volcanoes National Park, you won't see molten lava. Thurston Lava Tube is not wheelchair accessible due to uneven pathways and steps. An additional optional shopping stop may be provided. A boxed lunch will be provided for you to enjoy throughout the excursion.
