Sail around Arakoa harbor viewing the natural scenery and plentiful marine life on a spectacular 50-foot ketch built in 1922. You’ll board the stunning Fox II, a historic former cargo carrier that has been restored and updated for sightseeing. You'll sail through the harbor of Akaroa, which in the native Maori language means Long Harbor, a reference to this lengthy stretch of sea.
There's no telling what marine life you'll see, but these unspoiled waters are teeming with fur seals, little blue penguins, yellow-eyed penguins, and playful Hector's dolphin, the world's smallest oceanic dolphin. Being gray with black-and-white markings, they are easy to spot frolicking around the harbor. You may also see a variety of birds such as petrels, mollymawk albatross, gannets, and spotted shags. And, if you're feeling energetic, feel free to lend the crew a hand.
