Harrison's Cave, located near the center of the island, is a 30 minute ride from Bridgetown. Regarded as one of the finest caves in the world, this landform is unique to the Caribbean. Leaving the Harbour en route to the cave, look out for the historic Sharon Moravian Church which is unique in style and dates back to 1799, a beautiful structure and a part of Barbados’ rich history. Once at Harrison's Cave you’ll be welcomed at their visitor centre before you enter into the cave on an electric tram and trailer, which descends slowly into the cavern.
The latest technology has been employed to provide indirect lighting, which enhances the magnificence of the cave scenes. You’ll witness thousands of gleaming stalagmites and stalactites as you enter the 150 foot Great Hall and then continue to the Rotunda Room and it stunning formations. There will be stops during your tour for photo taking and the most breathtaking of these may be the thunderous 40 foot waterfall which cascades into a blue green lake making this experience, simply extraordinary! After your tour of the cave you can return to the visitor centre to browse and learn more about Barbados' ecosystem. Afterwards, relax and enjoy the views, or take a walk along the trail before your scenic return drive to the harbour.
Tours with this activity level involve walking over relatively level terrain, possibly some cobblestone, gravel, or a few steps. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
