A guide will meet your group in the cruise ship pavilion. Guests will be paraded on a short stroll of approx. 15-minutes where they will board the vessel. As we pull away from the dock and head out into the mouth of the harbour and the Great North Atlantic guests will enjoy a brief commentary on the Halifax Harbor and get prepared to watch the captain and crew pull up a lobster trap.
The captain and crew will educate the guests on lobster fishing in Nova Scotia and the life cycle of a lobster and other crustaceans. Guests will have a hands on real life experience of holding a live lobster. Upon releasing the traps back into the ocean the Captain and crew will make their way towards the first of the two or three lighthouses (depending on conditions) the guests will view on the trip. The captain and crew will educate guests on the importance of lighthouses in the mariner boating trade in Nova Scotia. After the tour, guests will enjoy a Maritime Lobster feast in Murphy’s restaurant. Our guide will demonstrate the proper way to crack open a lobster, which is an experience in itself. After lunch, guests will have the opportunity to shop in some local waterfront stores for souvenirs before returning to the Cruise Ship Pavilion at their leisure which is a stroll along the boardwalk.

Note: The tour may run in reverse on select calls with Lunch first, then the boat tour. Participants must be able to walk from the Cruise Ship Pavilion to the vessel. Walking is along a wood-planked boardwalk. Tour cannot accommodate motorized wheelchairs. It may get cold, so dress accordingly. If you require an alternative to the seafood lunch, please advise your Shore Excursion Staff. Due to Harbour Regulations, a lobster trap pull cannot be guaranteed – on days that this is not permitted, a trap will be placed on board for demonstration purposes.
