Departing from the pier you’ll pass numerous paddy fields, where buffalo may be cooling off in the muddy water. The paddies are an appropriate introduction to your first stop at the Rice Garden, an enlightening museum with exhibits demonstrating the vital role rice plays throughout Malaysia.
Stroll the museum and learn about the history of the rice industry through its displays devoted to rice planting, a tiered rooftop rice garden, and a traditional rice village. You may also see tools once used in the cultivation and harvesting of rice. You’ll drive to the foothills of Mount Machincang and ride skyward in a cable car gondola where the views of the surrounding rainforest and sea are breathtaking. Reaching the cable car base, free time is provided to shop in the Oriental Village.
