There is no better way to get to know a city than on a walking tour, and you’ll discover Noumea on this 2-hour guided walk.
Start your journey leaving your cruise ship with our English-speaking guide who will introduce you to Noumea’s historical city center.
Head to Chinatown, unmistakably marked by its red gate and lanterns. Its shops sell everything from herbs to handicrafts. You’ll also find a beautiful statue, paying homage to Vietnamese immigrants who came to work in the mining industry in the late 19th century. Then, your steps will lead you to Coconut Square, with its centenary flame trees and band stand; it’s a very popular gathering place for locals, right in the heart of the city.
See the Protestant Temple and Saint Joseph’s Cathedral in the Quartier Latin. Named after the Quartier Latin in Paris, it is one of the oldest areas of Noumea, with historic buildings and colonial architecture.
On your way back you’ll find one of the best bakeries in Noumea near Port Moselle, where the local market sets in the morning. You’ll also see the Bernheim library, the former courthouse and the new city hall.
