Depart the pier in the morning and travel to the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum, dedicated to preserving and presenting the history and heritage of Maui’s sugar industry for a 30 minute stop. Learn about Hawaii’s sugar industry in the photo display and video at the rustic plantation house.
Proceed to the Maui Tropical Plantation and enjoy a 40 minute narrated tram ride through agricultural villages, macadamia nut orchards, sugar cane fields and flower gardens, all grown in Hawaii for commercial and private use along with a coconut husking demonstration. Take time to browse at the gift shop, featuring many Made in Maui items and fresh fruit grown on the plantation.
Tours with this activity level involve walking over relatively level terrain, possibly some cobblestone, gravel, or a few steps. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
