Meet the Watson’s at Long Island Farm, a 6th generation family owned sheep farm. Your hosts will demonstrate several traditional farming practices and treat you to tasty home baked treats in their kitchen.
Long Island is a 22,000-acre farm located approximately 20 miles from Stanley where the Watson’s still farm in traditional Falkland style, using locally bred dogs and horses to gather their sheep. Learn about the history and use of peat for fuel here. Watch the skilled dogs heard the sheep, see a sheep shearing demonstration and learn about the horses work here on the farm. After, join Mrs. Watson in the kitchen for a delicious spread of home-baked cookies and savories served with tea and coffee.
There is a two-mile long white-sand beach teeming with shore birds directly in front of the house, and you are welcome to stroll anywhere around the farm and see the gardens, brimming with produce.
