Discover some of the Wilderness Coasts best kept secrets. Visit Ben Boyd National Park and the Green Cape Lighthouse, all in a 4x4 all terrain coach.
Travel south through Ben Boyd National Park leaving the road behind in a purpose built all terrain 4X4 coach. You’ll travel through lush native forest before making your way into the sandy heath land with low lying grevillea shrubs and heathland grasses.
On arrival to Green Cape, your National Park guide will escort you through the lighthouse. You will discover the history of Green Cape Lighthouse - the first Lighthouse in Australia built of concrete and that is the most southern Lighthouse and the second tallest in NSW, standing at 95ft/29m. You will hear of the tragedy of the Ly-ee-Moon that ran aground off Green Cape on May 30th, 1886; it was a dark winter’s night where 71 people lost their lives. Amongst those was Mrs. Flora MacKillop the mother of Australia’s only Saint, Mary MacKillop.
Travel to Disaster Bay lookout to enjoy the views along the coast before continuing through to Bittangabee Bay. Here you’ll have a chance to explore this safe little bay including a visit to the old supplies store ruins and the tram line that once ran from here to Green Cape Light House. Enjoy morning or afternoon tea before the journey back to Eden.
