Zip through Placencia Lagoon on a wave runner leaving a rooster tail in your wake and the mainland in your rear view mirror. After watching a short orientation video that will help maximize the experience, you will hop aboard a wave runner and tear off across the lagoon. The ride will be exhilarating from start to finish. To ensure that you see all the sights, a guide will lead the way with the wave runners following more or less caravan-style. The numerous mangrove-rimmed islands that you will spot scattered about are well-protected, as their ecologically important trees filter impurities from the water and stabilize the shoreline. The lagoon’s water is typically smooth enough so you can easily carve your way across the surface without encountering any wakes other than your own.

Crossing the Auau Channel on an ultra-modern, luxury catamaran, you'll have plenty of room to relax or roam around with its spacious galley, sun deck and trampoline areas while you experience the essence of aloha that the staff and the Hawaiian surroundings exude. Lanai's coast, largely undeveloped, feels unspoiled and remote even though it's just seven miles from Maui. Delve into the history of Halifax through iconic attractions that reflect events that shaped the city since its founding in 1749. Camp Hill takes its name from the military troops that were camped there during the 1834 cholera epidemic. Military graves from both world wars are scattered throughout the Camp Hill Cemetery, as well as the graves of two of Canada’s founding fathers. The Halifax Public Gardens are noteworthy for being a rare example of a Victorian garden that has changed little since opening in 1867. Its setting is extraordinarily tranquil. Star-shaped Halifax Citadel – the fourth fort to perch on the hilltop – was built in 1856 to keep the peace. It still looks impenetrable, a reason why this National Historic Site was never attacked. You will also drop by the Old Town Clock, which rises above Citadel Hill. Although it has been ticking since 1803, the building around it is replica from the 1960s.

Hike through the rainforest in Huleia National Wildlife Refuge to two spectacular waterfalls, where you may swim in the refreshing pools below. The refuge is closed to the public to protect the endangered species, but you will enjoy special access to this natural wonderland. As you follow a descending trail, the guide will describe the lush flora, which may include wild coffee, lobster claw heliconia and hau trees, the branches of which Hawaiians once used to make outrigger floats. Named for its stand of graceful bamboo, Bamboo Falls is the smaller of the cascades, while Papakolea Falls plummets down more than 60 feet. Both are breathtaking. Feel free to swim, stand under the waterfalls for a natural massage or simply relax on the rocky shore and behold nature’s beauty. Later, you will gaze out over Menehune Fish Pond, home to dozens of avian species such as the nēnē, Hawaii’s state bird.

Explore the geological wonders and eerie formations in Crystal Caves and then spend hours relaxing at a series of beaches linked by footpaths and surrounded by a nature reserve.

After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a leisurely tender ride to St. George’s Island, the northernmost point of hook-shaped Bermuda. A short scenic drive will bring you to Crystal Caves, which were discovered in 1907 when a teenager tried to retrieve his cricket ball from a hole and found it led to a huge series of caverns.

You will have the opportunity to explore the wonders underground, which include a crystal-clear lake and a profusion of white stalactites eerily illuminated for added drama. Parts of the caves are accessed along a pontoon boardwalk that floats atop the lake, allowing a closer look at the geological formations underwater. Enjoy an enlightening driving tour of Saint-Pierre, the capital of the islands Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, which comprise the last remaining French territory in North America. The first permanent French fishing settlement was established here in 1604 and the importance of fishing is still evident around the harbor. As you drive along streets named for French notables such as Jacques Cartier and Louis Pasteur, you will see a high wall where residents play the Basque game pelote and the modest Cathedral of Saint-Pierre. Saint-Pierre also played a key role during Prohibition in America when bootleggers used it as a base of operations. Reminders of this raucous period include the Cutty Sark cottage, which was built entirely of Scotch whisky cases, and Al Capone’s straw hat, which is on display in the museum in the Hotel Robert, where he once stayed. Just outside of Saint-Pierre, you will find Savoyard Lake, which is depicted on a local postage stamp.
