    OVERVIEW

A high speed catamaran to Haines, a rafting adventure in the Chilkat Bald Eagle Reserve and a riverside picnic make this a wildlife tour of a lifetime. Your tour begins as you board a catamaran for a scenic 45 minute cruise along North America's longest and deepest fjord to Haines. Along the way, you’ll witness spectacular views of waterfalls and ice sculpted peaks, as your guide points out marine wildlife. Upon arrival in Haines, you’ll board a motorcoach for a relaxing 40 minute drive up the Haines Highway, a National Scenic Byway, to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. OVERVIEW

Embark on an unforgettable adventure into Alaska’s stunning wilderness with a family-owned, Tlingit operated company. For over 50 years, we’ve proudly shared Southeast Alaska with guests from around the world. Cruise into the pristine waters off Juneau, an ideal area to spot humpback whales voraciously feeding to fatten up for their winter migration south. Against a majestic backdrop of snow-capped peaks and glaciers, the onboard naturalist will describe the habits of the wildlife you may encounter, including humpback whales, the main attraction in these waters. Chances are, you will see these majestic creatures breaching the water’s surface and waving their flukes up and down as they dive for food. Other frequently seen wildlife includes orcas, Stellar sea lions, Dall’s porpoise and bald eagles.

    OVERVIEW

Look for bears, deer, and bald eagles in their natural habitats from an elevated observation area in the remote Spasski River Valley. As you leave Hoonah, Alaska’s largest Tlingit Indigenous settlement, the guide will enlighten you with stories about the Tlingits and their fascinating history. Upon reaching the valley, you will walk along a gravel path and boardwalk to the elevated viewing platform. Be on the lookout for the diverse wildlife that makes its home here, including brown bears, which are highly intelligent omnivores that primarily eat vegetation. While this is an excellent area to observe animals, they roam freely, so there are no guarantees that you will see them. The Sitka black-tail deer is another native that may be spotted from the observation area, as well as land otters, mink and marten. And don’t forget to look skyward for bald eagles, a highly efficient bird of prey that frequents the valley.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Watch for brown bears in one of their prime habitats.
    • Look for other commonly seen wildlife such as deer, land otters and mink.
    • Don’t forget to scan the sky and treetops for bald eagles.
    • Gain an appreciation for the culture of the Tlingit people that first settled the valley.

    OVERVIEW

Cruise the pristine waters off Sitka in search of marine life such as sea otters while listening to a naturalist elaborate on the most intriguing characteristics of the species. You may settle into a comfortable seat in the boat’s main cabin or remain topside on the observation deck. Either way, you will enjoy an uninterrupted view of the sea. As you scan the waters for marine life, the naturalist will describe how humpback whales feed here in the summer and how animals such as sea otters now thrive. The animals were nearly extinct due to aggressive fur hunting in the early 1800s, and their comeback is a wonderful success story. Other creatures commonly spotted include sea lions, porpoise, harbor seals and a huge variety of seabirds. Puffins are particularly easy to identify because of their bright orange beaks.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Scan the waters off Sitka for marine life such as whales and sea otters.
    • Look along the shore for brown bears and skyward for bald eagles.
    • Listen to the naturalist describe the animals’ unusual habits and habitats.
