Discover Waimea Canyon, the breathtaking gorge in the heart of Kauai that is one of the island’s most dramatic natural attractions. You’ll begin your scenic drive by passing through a tunnel of trees, and traveling along Kauai’s south coast, on its one main highway.

From a lookout point high above, you’ll have a panoramic view of Waimea Canyon and its array of rainbow colors, created by the reds and browns of exposed volcanic rock mingled with the blues and greens of lush tropical vegetation. This magnificent gorge is 10 miles long, one mile wide and 3,000 feet deep. You’ll want to bring a camera to capture the spectacular beauty of this natural work of art.

Ever think of taking a boat ride to an active volcano and hike its gravel terrain? Board your local boat “caique” from the old port of Santorini for a 15 minute trip up to Nea Kameni. En route, admire the volcanic shores with the peculiar shape formations of the black volcanic rocks and the white pumice. After disembarking, a steep and fast paced 30 minute, 3/4 mile hike on rocky and gravel terrain takes you to the crater of this still active volcano.

During your walk up an ascending path, you’ll have the opportunity to observe the lava fragments and the volcanic rock formations. Once you reach the crater, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the view of Santorini and the amazing cliffs of the caldera. Board you boat and sail towards the thermal springs of Palea Kameni, with its green sulfur warm waters and temperatures that reach 37° C (98° F). Here you’ll have the opportunity to jump off the boat and swim to the springs, weather permitting.

Look for bears, deer and bald eagles in their natural habitats from an elevated observation area in the remote Spasski River Valley. As you leave Hoonah, Alaska’s largest Tlingit Indigenous settlement, the guide will enlighten you with stories about the Tlingits and their fascinating history. Upon reaching the valley, you will walk along a gravel path and boardwalk to the elevated viewing platform. Be on the lookout for the diverse wildlife that makes its home here, including grizzly bears, which are highly intelligent omnivores that primarily eat vegetation. While this is an excellent area to observe animals, they roam freely, so there are no guarantees that you will see them. The Sitka black-tail deer is another native that may be spotted from the observation area, as well as land otters, mink and marten. And don’t forget to look skyward for bald eagles, a highly efficient bird of prey that frequents the valley.

Visit several of Old Town’s most iconic sites, which gained even greater fame after serving as locations for the fictional capital King’s Landing in “Game of Thrones.”

After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive in the oldest section of Dubrovnik, a revered UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fans of the TV series “Game of Thrones,” which is based on George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels, will recognize this part of Dubrovnik as King’s Landing, the fictional capital of the Seven Kingdoms.

Your first stop will be imposing Lovrijenac Fortress, located just outside the medieval walls that encircle Old Town. Known as Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar, the 11th-century fortress perches atop a craggy rock overlooking the sea, which represented Blackwater Bay in the books.

Continuing on, you will enter Old Town and make your way to the defensive walls to the south. After climbing the steps, you will walk along the stone battlements, which afford extraordinary views of the sea and the inner city. These walls appeared in numerous scenes in “Game of Thrones”; they were particularly prominent in the Battle of Blackwater Bay.

Later, you will enjoy free time within Old Town, where you may explore other sites that you may recognize from the series. For instance, the Jesuit Staircase was where Cersei Lannister began her Walk of Shame in Season Five, and many of the show’s market scenes were filmed along St. Dominic Street. Following free time, you will return to the pier.

Watch injured and ill sea turtles being rehabilitated at Archelon, an organization that monitors, rescues and cares for sea turtles and their habitats. Many of the sea turtles at the facility are loggerheads, the most common turtle species in the Mediterranean. Even so, their numbers are dwindling because their nesting beaches are being lost and the turtles are accidently being caught in fishing nets. As you tour Archelon’s sea turtle rehabilitation center, you can expect to see injured turtles being treated in hopes of releasing them back into the wild one day. The organization also aims to educate the public to better understand the region’s marine biodiversity, the impact of pollution on all wildlife and the importance of sustainable practices. You might also learn how satellites are used to track loggerhead turtles as they migrate to and from their nesting sites in the Mediterranean.

Enjoy a stunning view of Mount Fuji from a beautiful shrine complex built to honor one of Japan’s feudal lords and savor a seafood lunch at a bustling fresh fish market. Head to the Nihondaira Park Outlook, which offers a glorious view of Suruga Bay and majestic Mount Fuji. Kunozan Toshogu Shrine perches above the outlook, which you will reach via cable car. Dedicated to the feudal lord Tokugawa Ieyasu, who unified Japan in the early 1600s, the shrine is a complex of ornate bright-red buildings constructed in the Shinto style. While browsing, be sure to notice the guardian statue near the Romon Gate and the drum tower. The three main halls within the complex are elaborately decorated, but vary architecturally. The carved ceiling in Honden Hall is particularly interesting. For a bit of entertainment, you might select a random paper fortune from a box and then tie it to a string in hopes that the fortune will come true. This common practice at Japanese shrines is known as omikuji. Stroll through Kashi-no-Ichi, a large fish market on Shimizu’s waterfront. While the signage will be in Japanese, the guide will translate the names of the seafood that you may not recognize. Afterwards, you will enjoy lunch at a restaurant within the market before returning to the pier.

Gain an understanding of Roatan’s natural wonders, wildlife and Garifuna culture before relaxing on the beach at a waterfront resort. Few adventures offer such diverse experiences. While cruising through French Harbour, you will learn about the many environment benefits of the mangroves that blanket the shore. Among them is providing shelter for water birds. You may spot species such as pink-breasted roseate terns in the mangroves, but you will enjoy a much closer look at Roatan’s fauna at a nearby animal sanctuary. Immerse yourself in Ushuaia’s history. In the early 19th century the Argentine government set up the Prison of Ushuaia where escape was practically impossible and for the first half of the 20th century, the city was centered around the prison. The prisoners became forced colonists and spent much of their time cutting wood in the forest and building the town. They also built a railway known as the prisoners train and the southernmost railway in the world. Dangerous convicts and well-known political prisoners made this prison famous until it closed in 1947.

Today you’ll learn about the life of the prisoners during those days when they were the inhabitants of the End of the World. You’ll begin with a visit to the old prison which today is home to a museum and take a train ride. During the narrated journey you’ll discover a part of Tierra del Fuego’s legendary history. At the railway’s turnaround point, you’ll board a motorcoach and continue a tour through the national park to Ensenada Bay, one of the area’s scenic highlights before heading back to the pier.

Explore and discover the magnificent city of Cartagena. Begin with a stop at San Felipe de Barajas situated outside the walled city for a panoramic view of this monumental fort considered to be the most outstanding feat of Spanish military engineering in the New World.

Continue to Las Bovedas Artisan Center, built as dungeons and as a means of storage. Walk through narrow cobblestone streets and squares inside the walled city. Wander through Plaza de Bolivar which features a statue of its namesake. Visit the Inquisition Palace, established in the year 1610 to punish any crimes against the Catholic faith. You’ll see samples of jails and torture chambers.

Next, visit the San Pedro Claver cloister and monastery built in homage to the protector of slaves. Continue to the Navy Museum which includes a folk show and beverage. Before returning to your ship you will have a free time to explore by your own into the walled city and enjoy panoramic sightseeing through Bocagrande, the modern part of the city.

After reaching the island by ferry boat, you’ll discover among the ruins, one of the island’s most spectacular relics, the Avenue of the Lions, where perfect replicas of the 7th century Naxian marble beasts crouch in silent vigilance at the sacred lake where Leto gave birth to her twins. Beyond, a path leads to Mt. Kynthos, where Zeus observed the event.

Take a drive along the Promenade des Anglais, a three mile long seafront boulevard with palms and flowers following the curve of the Bay of Angels. The walk will conclude at The Breakers (sometimes due to congestion, the walk will begin after touring the mansion).From the 1870s to the 1920s, the Vanderbilts were one of America’s most affluent families and commissioned the most prestigious and expensive architectural firms to build a series of homes for them along the East Coast. In Newport, these homes, amusingly called “cottages,” are unparalleled in historic significance and beauty. Built during the period known as the “Gilded Age,” they’re now National Historic Landmarks. The Breakers is considered the grandest of all of the Newport summer cottages. Designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt for Cornelius Vanderbilt II, this Italian Renaissance palace was completed in 1892 in less than three years at a cost of approximately $11 million, which would be over $200 million today! Originally constructed in France and reassembled here, the Grand Hall boasts 50 foot ceilings and has the largest room of any Newport mansion.

Magnificent views of the Adriatic Coast, Zadar’s countryside and local flavors are the highlights of this mostly panoramic tour. Surrounding the rest area are fields of plants, lavender, rosemary, sage and hundred year old olive trees.

You’ll visit the main attraction - the Cathedral of St. Lawrence which is probably the finest example of Sacral architecture in Croatia. This unusual building dominates the whole town. The main portal is world-famous and was carved by local artist Radovan in the 13th century. Other fine buildings that you'll see include the Town Loggia, Town Hall and Cipiko Palace.

Continue on to the typical Dalmatian village of Burni to acquaint yourself with its local traditions. On the way you’ll pass interesting landscapes and see the impressive transformations of this rocky terrain into an oasis of fertile land. Here, you'll visit village homes, some of which are several hundred years old. Enjoy a refreshing rest in the shade, while your hosts in national costume serve local specialties and homemade wine. Discover the ancient Mayan archeological site of Nim Li Punit along with its treasures and visit the Belize Spice Farm and Botanical Gardens to see how they cultivate and harvest exotic spices.

Board your air-conditioned bus for a scenic ride to the archeological site of Nim Li Punit, "Large Hat" in the Mayan Kekchi language. The site was so named due to a depiction on a Maya stela of one of its rulers wearing a very large headdress. It also has a ball-court in the center of the complex and an observatory in one of the plazas. Head over to the Belize Spice Farm and Botanical Gardens and see how vanilla, nutmeg, maze cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper are cultivated. As you travel through the farm via tram, you’ll see how these unique spices are dried and processed for packaging.
