Bright-eyed and intelligent, these slender monkeys are exceptionally social creatures and will and climb up on your shoulders, if allowed. You will interact with nature in a more physical way at Damajagua Falls, a series of cascades that you will reach by walking up a jungle-enshrouded river bed. Upon reaching a deep pool at the bottom of one of the remarkably blue cascades, you will be welcome to swim. Or you may opt to simply rest on a boulder along the shore and admire the scenery. The mood will be entirely different once you hop into an ATV-like buggy and race off-road through the countryside. Few experiences are quite so exhilarating.

OVERVIEW

Walk through a series of inland caves formed eons ago and admire the island’s natural beauty while driving along the coast. Pirates once used the Crystal Caves as hideouts and legend has it that treasures are still buried in their depths. While following a winding trail through the ancient caverns, you will see eerily illuminated stalactites and stalagmites, a glass-smooth underground lake and a cave whose ceiling collapsed ages ago. The guide will describe how the caves were formed and the wonders that lie within them. Back on the surface, you will settle in for a panoramic coastal drive, during which you will pause for photos at the Wreck of the Ten Sail memorial. It commemorates the convoy 10 British ships that wrecked on the reefs just offshore in 1794 in a massive maritime disaster. You will also stop to witness the coastal blowholes that spew ocean water as high as 20 feet into the air..

This fun, highly interactive experience is like a scavenger hunt reality show come to life, in which you will be pitted against other competitive teams that are just as intent on being first. Along the way, you will have to use your wits to figure out the intentionally misleading clues at each destination while racing against the clock. Besides having a great time, you will visit places off the beaten path that few visitors to Cozumel ever see. There is no better way to really get a feel for the town and the local culture. See Antigua from every possible perspective, beginning with an exhilarating helicopter ride high above the island’s western shore. During the flight, you will enjoy a bird’s-eye view of St. John’s and two 18th-century forts, only one of which saw military action. You will also pass over your cruise ship and several landmark hotels along the waterfront. A scenic drive to the island’s southern shore will bring you to Nelson’s Dockyard, a fully restored 18th-century naval base that is so historically important that UNESCO declared it a World Heritage site. Following free time there, you will board a boat for an enlightening 30-minute cruise around English Harbour. The guide will point out and describe the historical highlights and the spectacular coastal rock formations known as the Pillars of Hercules. Let loose at the Cumayasa Adventure Park by participating in all sorts of thrilling activities, most of them taking place high above the ground. You will be briefed on how to make the most of your adventures, which include walking across several rope-and-wood suspension bridges. Although you will be harnessed in during the crossings, the bridges typically sway in the wind and with every step, so be prepared for a breathtaking experience. The park also features a course of seven double-cable ziplines, allowing you to fly through the tree canopy for an entire mile. Along the way and while pausing on the elevated platforms between the ziplines, you will enjoy a literal bird’s-eye view of the tropical surroundings. You will also have the opportunity to walk through the park’s Hurricane House, a vertigo-inducing but fun carnival-like attraction that makes you feel like you’re moving even when standing still.

Race through the wilds of southwestern Antigua in a 4x4 vehicle on an off-road adventure that includes time to relax at a secluded beach. After a briefing and demonstration to familiarize you with the open-air buggy – a 2-seat Utility Terrain Vehicle – you will head off caravan-style into the countryside in Saint Mary Parish. You can either drive or ride along as a passenger. Either way, it will be a thrill, especially once you leave the paved highway. The circuitous route will take you through fields and farmland, over rolling hills and into marshy swamps where the mud will be flying high off the tires. Along the way, you will pause at particularly scenic outlooks such as the cliffside one near Old Road Village that overlooks the sea and the island of Montserrat. In time, you will arrive at a remote beach to relax and take a refreshing swim if you wish.

Drive a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to the eastern shore of Aruba, a spectacularly scenic area full of natural wonders and a 19th-century gold mill. Your Utility Terrain Vehicle or UTV has better traction that most ATVs and is made for heavier duty, so it is ideal to negotiate the island’s rugged terrain. You can drive the 2-person UTV or ride along as a passenger. Either way, it will be a thrill. Although Aruba isn’t often associated with a gold rush, it did experience one after the precious metal was discovered in 1824. You will see evidence of the frenzy that followed at the ruins of the abandoned Bushiribana Gold Mill. Not far off, you will view beautiful Blackstone Beach, the island’s only beach made of volcanic black pebbles, and a natural rock bridge that the pounding of the sea created. Later, back on the island’s western shore, you can enjoy a refreshing swim at Mangel Halto Beach.

See the natural beauty that abounds in the island’s more remote regions by riding an ATV through a tropical rainforest and by cruising along the mangrove-lined shores of southern Roatan. The adventure will begin in the village of Politilly Bight, where you will hop on an ATV and race off caravan-style, following the guide into the surrounding wilderness. If it has been raining recently, the natural trails will have potholes and mud will be flying, which will make the driving all the more fun. After a brief stop at a traditional Garifuna village, you will transfer to Oak Ridge, the island’s oldest fishing community. Mangrove forests line the banks most everywhere and often create tunnels in the tree canopy that your boat can easily navigate through. Besides being environmentally beneficial, mangroves provide shelter for a myriad of animals, especially water birds such as green herons and roseate spoonbills.

Ride across the island in an open-air Jeep to a natural pool along the sea and a cave adorned with centuries-old pictographs. You will enjoy uninterrupted views of the gorgeous countryside as you travel through Aruba’s rugged interior, often on roads only accessible in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. The seaside pool lies within the Arikok National Park, an environmentally protected wonderland that covers nearly 20% of the island. It will be immensely relaxing to ease into the crystal-clear waters of the secluded pool, which fills a bowl-like depression in the volcanically formed shoreline. Nearby, you will explore Fontein Cave, whose limestone walls are covered with reddish-brown drawings – some floor-to-ceiling – that the indigenous Arawaks created long ago. Anthropologists speculate that the artists may have been under the influence of psychedelics. To experience a weird sensation yourself, dip your feet into the freshwater pool nearby and enjoy a fish pedicure of sorts.

You can take the wheel of the four-person Jeep or just ride along. You can also choose between an open-air vehicle or an air-conditioned one. Either way, the thrills will be nonstop as you follow the off-road trails up and down the rainforest-blanketed mountains. You will pause along the way atop Crescent Hill, which offers a sweeping view of Basseterre and your cruise ship, and see the other side of the island after driving a circuitous route around verdant Green Hill and on to Frigate Bay. In time, you will arrive at Vibes Beach Bar, a popular spot known for its laid-back island ambiance.
