Britons Set to Splurge Over £100 Billion on Holidays Post-Pandemic

New Research Finds that Brits Plan to Spend Almost £9 Billion Extra on Holidays in 2022

Spending Time with Friends and Family Topped the List of Next Holiday Activities

With the ban on foreign travel lifted, new research carried out by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the leading innovator in global cruise travel, reveals that Brits are set to splurge £108 billion1 on holidays when international travel returns to normal.

According to the survey, Brits are planning to collectively spend almost £9 billion2 more on holidays in 2022 compared to 2019. To make the most of the newfound freedom, the average person intends to spend an extra £167.403 per year on international trips when travel resumes.

Among Brits’ top 10 holiday wants are:

  1. Spending time with friends and family (68%)
  2. Relaxation (66%)
  3. Fun (65%)
  4. Great choice of food (63%)
  5. Making the most out of annual leave (60%)
  6. Discovering new places (60%)
  7. Flexibility and freedom to do what they want (58%)
  8. Visiting cultural sights (56%)
  9. Revisiting places closer to home (53%)
  10. Seeing/doing as much as possible in one trip (50%)
