    hrs Estimate Duration

Ride through the wilderness on the outskirts of Juneau in a Jeep with a retractable top that will offer unobstructed views of the extraordinary natural beauty. Along the way, you can relive the gold rush by panning for gold in the creek where prospector Joe Juneau struck it rich in 1880. Or you might opt to simply enjoy the serenity at the picturesque waterfall just a short walk away. A leisurely hike along Steep Creek Bear Trail will take you to Mendenhall Glacier, one of North America’s most accessible glaciers. As a bonus, you may observe bears in the forest. The views from Eagle Beach will be more sweeping, as this secluded stretch of sand is a great spot to view the majestic Chilkat Mountains. The National Shrine of St. Thérèse is one of the few buildings in this coastal wonderland and will be well worth the visit. The shrine’s cobblestone exterior is particularly memorable.

• Ride into the wilds that lie on the outskirts of Alaska’s capital in a 4x4 Jeep.
• Pan for gold in the creek that launched Juneau’s gold rush and see the waterfall nearby.
• Behold Mendenhall Glacier, one of North America’s most accessible glaciers.
• Pause at the National Shrine dedicated to St. Thérèse, the patron saint of Alaska.

The two-door Jeep has four seatbelts however we recommend this vehicle for parties of two or for parties of three or four that do not have mobility issues as the third and fourth guest will have to step over the folded front seat to get into the back. Foldable wheelchairs cannot be accommodated in the 2-door jeep but can be accommodated in the 4-door. No smoking allowed in the jeep.

Each party must have at least one licensed driver that is 21+ years old. There is no charge for additional drivers. Licenses can be domestic or foreign, but must be on their person (copies are not accepted)

The digital guide is GPS integrated to know where the guest is located along their route, and will discuss the site they are going to see before they get there. It is programmed to automatically move to the next location once they leave the last site. It will also discuss Alaska's history, wildlife and ecosystem along longer drives and as the guest heads back to their ship near the end of the tour. The guest can simply select 'Next' if they want to skip a location or need to head back to the ship. Guests who go ashore do so with the understanding that they will be mixing with members of the general public.
