OVERVIEW

Behold the technologically advanced Miraflores locks – which doubled the capacity of the Panama Canal – and become immersed in Panama’s most iconic products while browsing the innovative Brand Experience Center. The locks were built to provide an alternative lane for ships that were too long and too wide to pass through the canal’s original locks. Although the guide will explain the complex operation of the locks, there is nothing like seeing the locks in action as the massive ships pass through them. You will have that opportunity while standing atop the roof terrace of the Miraflores Observation Center. Your experience at the BEC will be just as eye-opening as you can sample many of the brand-name products that define Panama’s heritage and identity. You might enjoy tastings of Boquete coffee – whose beans are grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil – and the country’s national beer, another uniquely flavorful product.

Discover the charm and history of Panama City’s Old Quarters, known as Casco Viejo, during this on-your-own exploration of the country’s beautifully restored colonial district. After a scenic drive from the port, you will arrive at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, founded in 1671 and rich in Spanish colonial and Canal-era history. With approximately two and a half hours of free time, stroll cobblestone streets lined with restored mansions, boutique hotels, colorful plazas and historic landmarks. Notable sites include Plaza de Francia, Plaza Bolívar, Arco Chato, Independence Plaza, Plaza Santa Ana and the Cathedral Basilica. Browse local artisan shops, relax at rooftop bars or enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants (at your own expense). A local escort will provide orientation, recommendations and helpful information before your free time and will remain available for assistance throughout the visit. Discover one of the Dominican Republic’s most breathtaking natural wonders—the Damajagua Waterfalls. Your adventure begins with a guided hike through lush jungle terrain along a dirt trail with stairs, lasting about 45 minutes. The reward at the top is a series of cascading waterfalls, each offering a unique way to descend—jumping into crystal-clear pools, sliding down smooth rock chutes, or wading through refreshing waters. Wooden walkways and steps connect the cascades, making it possible to experience this incredible natural attraction from one fall to the next. Take in the gorgeous scenery within the pristine Misty Fjords National Monument while flying in a DeHavilland floatplane as your bush pilot elaborates on the natural wonders below. This completely undeveloped wilderness sprawls across more than two million acres in the Tongass National Forest, America’s largest national forest. Majestic beyond imagination, the landscape is a mosaic of sea cliffs, misty mountains, deep fjords, thundering waterfalls, jewel-like lakes and dense rainforest, all of which you will gaze down upon from your own window seat. The exact route for the flight will depend on the weather. If you fly south, you will likely see shimmering Big Goat Lake and New Eddystone Rock, an immense volcanic spire that rises above the sea. The northern route usually passes over Neets Bay and Bell Island Hot Springs. Be sure to look for brown and black bear, Sitka black-tailed deer and bald eagles as wildlife is abundant.

Follow an immensely scenic coastal route with leisurely stops at three beaches, each one presenting a different experience. You will begin a bit north of Puerto Plata at Costambar Beach, a beautiful stretch of sand with the towering slopes of Mount Isabel de Torres as a backdrop. While you may spend the entire time on the beach, as an alternative, you might drop by El Carey, a waterfront restaurant with an outdoor terrace that overlooks the sea. Farther south, you will stop at Cosita Rica Beach. Because of its central location and easy accessibility, it will likely be the most crowded of all the coastal settings. The advantage to that is a plethora of nearby shops and restaurants. Even farther south, you will find Playa Dorada, a beach with a coveted Blue Flag designation for being clean and eco-friendly. One of its big draws is Jack Tar restaurant, where you might dine on your own.

Whether you are a zipline novice or aficionado, satisfy your need for speed and adventure when you fly and experience the adrenaline-filled ziplines. You’ll be met at the keeper’s house, located at the base of the Flighthouse by the flight crew who will provide you with a safety orientation, assist with your equipment selection and fitting and a technical flight briefing covering the upcoming flight mission. Once outfitted and briefed, you’ll be transported up to your designated flight deck via the Flighthouse elevator where your adventure begins. Here, perched over 100 feet in the air you will experience the wind gusts as you soar 100 feet above the Manatee Lagoon. Consists of three zips crisscrossing Harvest Caye. Each zip is long enough for you feel the rush and enjoy the sensation.

To enhance the thrill and excitement we have added an elevated suspension net bridge. Allowing you a bird’s eye view of guests below or to search the horizon and take in panoramic views of the Mayan Mountains on the mainland or the turquoise waters of the outer reefs.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of ST Thomas as you visit scenic vantage points as well as the highest point on ST Thomas. Enjoy Picturesque Skyline Drive overlook which offers a spectacular view of your ship docked in the historic Charlotte Amalie Harbor 800 ft below. Continue to Mountain Top, the highest point on the island with panoramic views of Magen’s Bay- rated by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Additionally you will see the nearby British Virgin Islands, Tortola and Jost Van Dyke all from the scenic observation deck. Take some time to browse the shops at Mountain Top, depending on port time, optional downtown drop off at your expense is possible. Browse the aisles as bargains abound for every budget. While traveling down the winding mountain roads, and enjoying the views, your next stop will be the Skyride to Paradise Point.

The Skyride to Paradise Point whisks you up over 700 ft above sea level for the most spectacular views of the harbor, historic downtown Charlotte Amalie, and on a clear day all the way to Vieques, Culebra, and St. Croix! Don't forget your camera! While enjoying the views, stop at the bar to purchase the World Famous Bailey’s Bushwacker, the restaurant for a bite to eat, browse the multiple local shops, and venture out onto the SkyWalk. When you are ready, get back on the Skyride and head back down the mountain where your ship is located right across the street.
