OVERVIEW

Paddle a kayak through a mangrove-lined lagoon as the sun begins to set, a time known as the golden hour because the radiant natural light exudes a warm glow. After a briefing to ensure that you maximize the experience, you will ease into a kayak and follow the guide into the sanctuary lagoon that rims the southern shore of St. Thomas. The mangroves provide an ideal habitat for wildlife, especially birds that roost each evening in these environmentally important trees. Kayaks make little noise in the water so the birds won’t be disturbed even if you paddle closely to them. You may see snowy egrets and little blue herons wading in the shallows, endangered brown pelicans taking shelter and yellow warblers singing their sweet whistled songs as they dart in and out of the mangroves’ branches and aerial roots. The guide will help identify the birds and describe the lagoon ecosystem.

The Island Zipline Adventure course is a combination of the Osprey Zipline plus the Seahawk Zip to give you six high-flying zips plus a series of V-net bridges, chimney climbs and cargo nets, designed to challenge but not overwhelm your physical and mental strength. Tour starts with an elevator ride to the top of the Flighthouse.

Everybody loves friendly Rays! Enjoy two great ray activities -a personal encounter plus shore-side snorkeling. Then relax and have fun at a private shore club with its resident, friendly critters, and water trampoline. Mere minutes from your ship, you’ll be provided with snorkeling gear and briefed on equipment and the rays. Your guide works with small groups to give you personal attention.

First, you’ll encounter the rays in a shallow area and get to feed them if you like. Then, you'll move to a larger area for snorkeling with a larger school of rays, nurse sharks, and all their colorful fish friends. Finally, you’ll have some beach club leisure time, complete with a snack bar, souvenirs and photos available to complete your experience.

Snorkel two reefs that are teeming with marine life and see the wreck of a freighter that has become an artificial reef. A sleek catamaran will bring you to the snorkeling sites, which are both located just off Buck Island, a naturally beautiful oasis that is a national wildlife refuge. Turtle Cove is known for its abundant sea turtles, the most common being green and hawksbill turtles. It’s easy to differentiate between the species, as green sea turtles weigh as much as 500 pounds and are typically twice the size of hawksbills. Countless tropical fish inhabit Turtle Cove and Shipwreck Cove, the second snorkeling venue, which is named for the ship that was scuttled there in 1979. A few years later, Hurricane Hugo broke the ship into three pieces and pushed it into shallower water. While snorkeling in the coves, you can expect to see snapper, blue tangs and parrotfish of every imaginable neon color.

Once you launch, open your eyes! Take in the blue hues of the Bahamian waters and watch for the marine life as you zip over coral reefs descending lower and lower finally landing adjacent to the Silver Cove lagoon.

The return is a includes a 105-foot V-net bridge, a 25-foot chimney climb and for those with the mental and physical stamina try your hand at the 36-foot cargo net climb stationed 40 feet above the ground. From the pier, you will be taken to the awaiting vehicle where you receive the safety equipment and participate in a brief orientation.

Hop on the all-terrain vehicle and follow your guide on caravan passing by the Cozumel’s coastline. On your way to the northern side, make a stop for photos at the iconic monument that was built to commemorate the encounter of cultures. Continue the fun while you drive on bumpy and narrow paths surrounded by local vegetation and make sure to keep your eyes open chances are you will find some wild life in the area as iguanas, raccoons and other creatures while exploring the northern side. Head on to a nice Beach Club where you will cool off at the swimming pool, sip a cold drink or just sink into a hammock or lounge chair. Ride through an adventure park in an all-terrain dune buggy, relax at the beach and interact with the local wildlife for a pure Roatan experience. The fun will begin at the Mayan Eden Nature Park, where you cross hanging bridges and can hold, pet and play with animals such as capuchin monkeys, Honduras national bird Macaws, toucans, parrots and sloths, the latter being the world’s slowest moving mammal and welcome to visit hummingbird & butterfly sanctuary.
