Discover Lerici's charm, explore its historic sites, and cruise around Poet's Gulf with stunning island views, including Portovenere's UNESCO heritage. more...

Explore the pastel-colored town of Lerici as a prelude to cruising around the islands in the surrounding Bay of La Spezia. Although a medieval castle dominates Lerici, there is much more to see, including the 13th-century Oratory of San Rocco and former Jewish quarter. The narrow streets are wonderfully atmospheric with fine shops characteristic of the Italian Riviera. In time, you will board a private boat for an enlightening cruise around the bay, which is also known as Poet’s Gulf in reference to Lerici once being a celebrated enclave for poets and writers. Lord Byron, Percy and Mary Shelley and D.H. Lawrence were all inspired by the setting. You will be treated to close-up views of the islands Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto in the bay’s westernmost part. UNESCO deemed them and the neighboring town of Portovenere a World Heritage site for their scenic and cultural value. You will discover Portovenere’s other charms during free time there.

Spend the day exploring the many treasures the village of Orvieto unveils at every turn. During your scenic drive to Orvieto in Umbria, you’ll pass by several small villages scattered over the hills boasting Medieval castles and churches. Upon arrival in Orvieto, you’ll take the cable car to reach the center. Orvieto goes back to the 9th century B.C. and the Etruscan civilization. Perched on a plateau atop huge cliffs, this town boasts of one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Italy. Its construction started in 1263 under the pontificate of Urbano IV who wanted to consecrate the so-called ‘miracle of the blood’. But your attention is immediately drawn by the wonderful Gothic facade of this cathedral. Inside, some chapels are structured with cross vaults, some of which are embellished by very important frescos painted by Fra Giovanni and by Luca Signorelli. In the transept you can admire a Pity from the 16th century.

After the cathedral’s visit, your guide will lead you on a walking tour through the narrow streets of this beautiful city and point out other things of interest that you could do during your leisure time. You’ll then have about 2 1/2 hours of free time to further explore Orvieto. During your free time, you might want to visit the Underground Passages, the Museum of Archeology, or St. Patrick's well, built in the early 16th Century by Pope Clement VII, an architectural marvel. If exploring is not your thing, you might opt to relax in the Piazza del Duomo over lunch, an ice cream or a glass of the famous local wine with some cheese and salami. What about doing some shopping? Orvieto is famous for its ceramics, glass, leather and olive wood work, in addition to the many local goods produced in the area, such as olive oil or the famous wine, Orvieto Classico. Whatever you choose to do, you’ll surely have a wonderful day.

    OVERVIEW

Experience the ultimate treetop adventure and come away with a newfound confidence in your physical abilities, mental fortitude and sheer willpower to push yourself to new heights. Unlike a conventional zipline, this aerial adventure involves swinging ropes, balance bridges and daring climbs into the tree canopy. An orientation and practice run on the ground will help prepare you for the fun and challenges that lie ahead. Afterwards, you will warm up on the easy Squirrel Course, move on to the moderate Fox Course and then pull yourself along a rope while hanging high above the forest floor on a Tyrolean Traverse. That’s the Bear Course. With your confidence now soaring, you will be ready for the high-flying Eagle Course, which ends in the treetops 50 feet above the ground. The descent will be just as exhilarating as you soar down at a goose bump-producing speed on a “quick flight” cable.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Different than zipline experiences, this aerial adventure will have you swinging, scrambling, and climbing through multiple elements.
    • Climb high into the tree canopy by negotiating a series of aerial courses.
    • Prepare for the ultimate challenge by warming up on easier aerial courses.
    • Learn to increase your balance, climb more confidently and use a Tyrolean Traverse.
    • Enjoy literal bird’s-eye views of the forest from high above.
    • Gain newfound confidence in your abilities to meet new challenges.

Soar through a tropical forest on two exhilarating zip-lines and enjoy a meandering walk through the jungle on a nature trail with towering suspension bridges.

After departing from the pier, you will take a leisurely drive through the emerald-green countryside to the area’s only extreme adventure park. Upon arriving, you will learn how to maximize your experience during a brief orientation.

You can then participate in three different activities, each thrilling in its own way. You may begin by strolling through the jungle canopy, much of it along suspension bridges and wooden boardwalks. From this vantage point high above the jungle floor, you can expect to see splashes of colorful flowers clinging to vine-draped trees, chirping tropical birds flitting through the air, and creatures such as iguanas and lizards perched on the branches.

A more adrenaline-pumping adventure awaits you on the zip line, which involves sitting in a harness and darting through the treetops from platform to platform. It will be absolutely exhilarating as you pass over trees and through pathways cut out of the dense foliage at heart-pounding speeds. You will be treated to a literal bird’s-eye view of the gorgeous tropical landscape below so don’t blink because it will go by fast.

For the ultimate thrill, try the Zuperman Zip. It is the area’s only forward-facing zip line with a special harness that allows you to fly through the air headfirst like Superman. Afterwards, you will return to the pier in Roatan.

Explore historic Peccioli and enjoy a wine tasting at Le Palaie, a Tuscan winery. Experience local culture and wine. more...

    OVERVIEW

Walk through pedestrian-friendly Peccioli for a historical perspective of this lovely Tuscan town and visit a nearby winery for an inspired tasting. Perched on a hilltop overlooking a rich agricultural landscape, Peccioli is wonderfully low-key and unpretentious. Although the ruins of a 12th-century fortress hint at its turbulent past, elegant palazzi and churches such as Saint Verano are the town’s most outstanding features. Now a museum, the Palazzo Pretorio holds an unexpected collection of Russian icons donated by an Italian journalist that reported from Saint Petersburg. The Colline Pisane wine route passes nearby, and you will follow it to Le Palaie, an estate winery that also produces olive oil and honey. After an enlightening walk through the vineyards, you will settle in to sample several wines in the cellar. Although Le Palaie predominately produces reds, its white varietals such as the Viognier are also extraordinary. Local specialties will be served to complement them.

    • Enjoy a leisurely walk through the hilltop Tuscan town of Peccioli.
    • Follow the Colline Pisane wine route to Le Palaie winery for a tasting.
    • Sample Le Palaie’s most characteristic wines along with classic Tuscan accompaniments.
