Fly in a helicopter over wilderness areas that the captain chooses as the best places to observe wildlife and then land on a secluded beach to learn about the Tlingit tribe.

After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a scenic drive through Hoonah, the largest Tlingit community in Alaska. For a revealing glimpse into the Tlingit culture, you will pause at a collection of totem poles. They are carved with symbolic images such as eagles, wolves and mythical figures that represent certain clans or tell folkloric tales of the Tlingits.

A brief orientation at a nearby heli-pad follows, after which you will fly off in a helicopter, taking in the magnificent scenery of dense woodlands, majestic mountains and pristine waterways dotted with islands. It is all part of the Tongass National Forest, the nation’s largest national forest and the world’s largest temperate rainforest.

The pilot will select a route where you will most likely see bears lumbering through the woods and whales in the surrounding waters. It is always a thrill to spot these iconic Alaskan creatures, especially from an aerial vantage point.

In time, the helicopter will touch down on a secluded beach, where you will learn about the founding Tlingits. You will discover much about their history, how they migrated here and the traditional methods they use
