Drive to the port of Leith to visit Britannia, the Royal Yacht proudly served Queen and country for 44 years during which time she sailed on 968 official voyages, from the remotest regions of the South Seas to the deepest divides of Antarctica. Within her magnificent state apartments and elegant living quarters, monarchs, world leaders, and eminent guests were entertained; princes and princesses honeymooned; men were knighted; and important national business was the order of the day.
Your tour starts in the shore side Visitor’s Centre where you’ll see the engaging photo gallery documenting historical and personal moments of the yacht and her passengers. You’ll get an audio-phone which allows you to make your way through the various sections of the yacht on a self-conducted tour. Returning to the exhibition center, you can browse in the gift shop selling tasteful souvenirs and products connected with the yacht. Enjoy a brief panoramic drive through Edinburgh’s city center and get acquainted with some of its highlights.
