Learn about modern sled dog racing and Gold Rush history at the Klondike Gold Fields. Meet an authentic musher, who will provide a video presentation that introduces dogs of the Klondike Gold Rush and highlights winter runs of today. See the gear that is used for long distance races. You’ll meet the team and watch the musher hook them up to a sled for a demonstration run. Afterwards, guests are invited to interact with the dogs and hold the puppies.
Layer up and enter the cold chamber to see and feel the effects of extreme cold in the 40 Below Experience. Seasoned prospectors will give you time to warm back up and then provide an entertaining lesson on gold panning techniques. Try your skills with a pan of pay dirt at warm-water troughs and have your gold weighed in the Gold Parlor and purchase a souvenir to display it in.
Catch a film about the Northern Lights or the 350-ton Gold Dredge brought down from the Klondike. Take a look at the interactive displays and go to the photo parlor to use costumes and cutouts for a memorable picture of yourself. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase at the espresso bar and the Gold Rush Restaurant & Brewery.
