OVERVIEW

This excursion is for guests who are fully dependent on their mobility device. You will be required to supply your own wheelchair/scooter. Your mobility equipment (manual or electric) must not exceed the following dimensions: W 32", L 47", H 59".

Palma was founded by the Romans more than 2,100 years ago and features incredible monuments and beautiful architecture. Join your guide on a walking tour of the city’s highlights, as you learn of its rich history. Drive through Paseo Maritimo, with its palm-lined promenade, hotels and luxury yacht marina.

Visit Palma’s most impressive landmark and Spain’s second largest Gothic style cathedral. The beautiful interior is overshadowed, only by the grandness of the exterior. The central apse contains the high Chapel of Trinity, where the tombs of the Kings of Mallorca are located. On your walking tour, you’ll discover grand avenues and a maze of quaint streets lined with shops and cafes. Admire buildings of typical Majorcan architecture.

See the royal palace, the fishing harbor, city walls, the former Merchandise Exchange of La Lonja and the Consulado del Mar. You'll drive Bellver Castle, built in the 14th Century, a magnificent medieval fortress and enjoy fantastic views from the lookout point.

After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive at Bellver Castle, a spectacular Gothic landmark from the 14th century. Its round design is unusual among Spanish castles, and although seemingly impenetrable, the fortress never served a defensive purpose. It was used mainly as a prison. As you ramble about the hilltop castle taking photos, you will appreciate the origin of its name, which means “lovely view” in Catalan.

An introductory driving tour of Palma follows, during which you may spot the lovely Gran Hotel and the historical Theatre Principal, which was inaugurated in 1667 as the House of Comedies. In time, you will reach the village of Montuiri for a pearl factory tour.

Majorca pearls have been manufactured on the island since the 19th century and they are extraordinarily lustrous. The pearls are hand-made using a closely guarded technique developed more than a century ago. Ride a double-decker bus through Palma de Mallorca, hopping on and off at the destinations that interest you the most and stay as long as you like. You will board the first bus by the cruise terminal at Estació Maritima and follow one of two routes through the city. The Palma Aquarium provides a fun and exciting journey of discovery. Your tour drives past the Paseo Maritimo with numerous hotels on one side and luxury yachts on the other. The Son Miranda farm near the center of the island will be the setting for your immersion into the production of organic olive oil. The olives are grown without chemicals or herbicides and manually harvested using traditional methods. Indulge your senses with the fresh air, the great outdoors and scenic beauty of Palma during this memorable bicycle tour through the historic Old Town. Once ashore, meet your guide, receive your safety briefing, bicycle and helmet, then follow the dedicated bicycle lane along the bay and into the city. Your route proceeds for approximately 100 yards (about 91 metres) on top of the old city wall before entering the small and shady alleyways of the Old Town.

En route, discover churches, small monasteries and old aristocrat’s mansions featuring cozy patios and enchanting small plazas. Along the way, your guide offers commentary about your surroundings, and points out interesting sights. Halfway through the ride, a refreshment stop is made at a local tavern before continuing on your bicycle tour, which concludes back at the pier.

This leisure tour highlights the spectacular scenery of Majorca and offers the opportunity to taste local specialties. Leaving the port, you’ll embark on a scenic drive with views of landscapes of pine forests and groves of almond and olive trees, beautiful villages and more. Your final destination and highlight is the magnificent estate of Els Calderers, surrounded by beautiful fountains and lush formal gardens where seasonal flowers abound. This superb 18th century Majorcan manor was built by a noble family on the site of a 12th century farm belonging to the Calderer Family. You’ll have time to explore on your own the grounds and interior of the house, now a museum illustrating the home-life of two centuries ago. Also, explore the exterior of the museum, where you will see farm animals of native breeds, such as the Mallorcan black pig. This pig is used to make the delicious sobrasada (a cured raw sausage), which you will taste together with a sampling of local wine. Afterward, you’ll return to your ship with a stop to the local pearl factory to learn about Mallorca pearls, where you will also have time to browse and perhaps make a purchase.

OVERVIEW

Spend hours on a beach near the island’s southwestern tip, an ideal setting for a delectable meal at one of the most popular restaurants on the promenade. It won’t take long to reach Magaluf Beach, giving you all the more time to enjoy the amenities. Although the beach is extraordinarily popular, you can still easily find your own slice of paradise on this wide, long stretch of golden sand. Once you settle in, you will be free to do whatever you please. A refreshing swim should be top of mind because the water is typically crystal-clear and calm. The uninhabited, domed island that you will see looming offshore is Black Lizard Island. Whenever you decide to dine, head for the Mediterranean-style restaurant Bondi Beach Magaluf. Lunch includes an open bar and a selection of seafood dishes that may include mussels and squid as appetizers and a hearty fish paella for the entrée.
