Polar Expeditions & Tromso Wilderness
hrs Estimate Duration
Your tour starts with a drive through the city of Tromso to the Polar Museum. The museum was opened in 1978 and is housed in an old customs warehouse dating from 1830. Tromso has long been an important base for many polar expeditions, and the Polar Museum exhibits and presents this polar seafaring tradition. At the museum you’ll meet the courageous men and women and the ships and equipment that were essential for life both on the sea and in the Arctic.
After your visit to the Polar Museum, you’ll continue your tour to visit a husky kennel. After approximately 30 minutes you’ll reach Tromso Wilderness Center, owned and run by a couple completely dedicated to their dogs. You’ll see of the owners private pictures and hear about the various races and dog sledge expeditions. You’ll also be shown the equipment they use and of course have time to admire the beautiful husky dogs.
