OVERVIEW

Follow a nature trail through Sitka National Historical Park that showcases totem poles just like the ones that were exhibited at the 1904 World’s Fair. Created in 1910 to commemorate the Battle of 1804 between the Tlingits and the Russians, the forested park is Alaska’s oldest and is rich in history. During this self-guided walk, you will learn about the many ecosystems in the surrounding rainforest and the unusual tale of how Alaska’s first governor gathered the original totem poles to promote the state. The indigenous Tlingit people carved and painted the totems, which feature stylized human, animal and supernatural forms that are highly symbolic. Some of the totems honor important people or events, such as the Bicentennial Pole of 1976, which was carved under the direction of the park’s first Native American superintendent. When crossing the bridge over Indian Creek, you can see the salmon spawning during the months of mid-July into September. At the conclusion of the walk you’ll have the option to either enjoy the short walk along the waterfront back into downtown on your own or board again the motorcoach to be dropped off at Centennial Hall. From here, you can make your way back to the ship on your own via the free shuttle, which also departs from Centennial Hall.

One of the most popular activities in Los Cabos is snorkeling and this is the perfect way to snorkel and so much more! Board one of our inflatable fast boats and head out to the famous Arch and sea lion colony, the famous land mark of Cabo San Lucas. Then hold on tight as the captain opens up the motors as you speed out to a secluded bay. After a short safety briefing, dive into the depths to explore the wide array of ocean life. Leaving the Castries harbor in a fully-equipped Bertram Boat, you'll cruise three to four miles off the west coast of St. Lucia from the north to the south of the island. Although the tour is a fishing expedition, there are over 40 different species of whales and dolphins here, and the sighting of one of these species is a possibility. Nevertheless, the main thing on your mind is a catch, and the variety of fish in these waters include marlin, sailfish, king fish, mackerel, jack fish, yellow fin tuna, dorado, wahoo and barracuda. Depart the pier via four-wheel-drive vehicle for the scenic drive through Moorea's deep valleys and mountains. Your adventure begins with a drive to Paopao Valley. After passing by some pineapple plantations, you will cross the Paopao Opunohu Trail en route to Opunohu. A stop will then be made at one of the numerous sacred ancient sites, or marae, where you will learn about Polynesian culture.

Next, you will continue to the Belvédère Lookout for incredible panoramic views overlooking Cook's and Opunohu bays. From here, you will drive through the interior trails of the Rotui Moutain to see the local flora. A stop on the way will allow you to enjoy a refreshment. Cruise in an open-air Zodiac along the spectacularly scenic Pali sea cliffs and snorkel the lengthy coral reef that lies just offshore. You will zip through the water on the Reef Explorer, a 60-foot custom super-raft with shaded and open-deck seating. The exact method of fishing will depend on the conditions, but trolling with a downrigger often proves to be the most effective. You might land a coho salmon or a king salmon, the largest and most powerful fighter in these waters. Walk through a series of inland caves formed eons ago and admire the island’s natural beauty while driving along the coast. Pirates once used the Crystal Caves as hideouts and legend has it that treasures are still buried in their depths. While following a winding trail through the ancient caverns, you will see eerily illuminated stalactites and stalagmites, a glass-smooth underground lake and a cave whose ceiling collapsed ages ago. The guide will describe how the caves were formed and the wonders that lie within them. Back on the surface, you will settle in for a panoramic coastal drive, during which you will pause for photos at the Wreck of the Ten Sail memorial. It commemorates the convoy 10 British ships that wrecked on the reefs just offshore in 1794 in a massive maritime disaster. You will also stop to witness the coastal blowholes that spew ocean water as high as 20 feet into the air.

This tour is a fun way to visit the most interesting places, which reveal the unique history of the capital of Greece. A 30-minute drive from the port brings you to your bike tour’s starting point. It is a journey back in time, passing by all the 'must see' locations of ancient Athens in an approximately 1 1/2-hour cycling tour that includes the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, the Plaka and Anafiotika, Roman Forum, Tower of the Winds, Ancient Agora and Kerameikos. Go deep-sea salmon fishing with a captain and crew that know the prime fishing grounds from Auke Bay and the best methods to catch salmon. Once you reach a spot where the fish have been biting lately, you will begin trolling for salmon using a downrigger to ensure that the bait reaches the desired depth. All the fishing tackle will be provided so you can concentrate on landing a big one. Five species of salmon are found in this part of Alaska, including king salmon, which are also called Chinook salmon. Pink or humpy salmon are the most abundant species, and they are vigorous fighters. You might also land sockeye, coho and chum salmon, all of which have unique characteristics. If you want to keep what you catch, within the limits, it can be processed and shipped anywhere in the United States, with an additional fee. Be sure to snap lots of photos first.

The Osprey traverse gets its name from the bird of prey that is commonly seen perched on our decks and consist of 3 easy flights. The first flight south is the shortest traverse at 185 feet; it is also the tallest at 120 feet above the ground. We said it was easy, we didn’t say it wouldn’t be scary!

Start the second flight by be stepping off the platform 75-feet above the ground to soar some 850 feet to next landing perched just 75 feet above the ground.

Ascending a series of stairs takes you up to your launching pad for the final 900-foot zip to ground level back to where it all started.

At these heights the air is fresher, the colors are brighter, and the ground has never been so sweet.

Interact with capybaras – highly social, semi-aquatic mammals indigenous to South America – at Ocean World and enjoy the marine park’s other attractions at your leisure. As you will discover firsthand during the capybara encounter, they are cute, cuddly and twice the size of beavers. Chances are, the capybaras will come right up to you. You will notice that their toes are webbed for efficient paddling and that their eyes, noses and hairless ears are on the tops of their heads so they can be aware of their surroundings when mostly submerged. Ocean World offers plenty of other animal encounters. You could see an ever-changing parade of brilliantly colored fish while snorkeling, observe dolphins and sea lions in other areas of the park and come across macaws and toucans while walking through the rainforest. Challenge your senses and sense of reality in Xenses Park, a fantastic setting where up is down, right is left and nothing is as it appears.

After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a picturesque ride to the mainland and on to Xenses Park. You will then spend the next four hours or so exploring this highly unusual sensory park with all sorts of entertaining activities that are designed to challenge your perceptions and enhance your senses.

Starting at the welcome area, known as the Pinwheel, two different circuits are available. The Consensible Circuit will test your senses in areas such as The Way of the Dwarfs and Giants. Here, you feel small one second and then enormous a moment later. Enter the complete darkness of the Xensatorium and all of your senses but sight will sharpen. Then, there is the Xitric Garden, where you can drink lemonade straight from a faucet in a lemon tree.

The Inconsensible Circuit will play tricks on your sense of balance and reality. You might float down a super-salty river, soar through the air on a zip-line, and meander through a make-believe town where the laws of physics and logic don’t apply. Water will seem to defy gravity, and you may think you are ascending steps but are actually walking down them.

For the fit and active person who wants to learn about the history of this beautiful town and have the most amazing views, this tour is worth every one of the 1,350 zigzagging steps to the top. Start with an orientation walk of Kotor and see its squares, cathedral, Maritime Museum, churches, noblemen houses and terraces. The medieval city of Kotor has a turbulent history of invasions. It was watched over and defended by an imposing network of towers, bastions and ramparts built along the cliffs of Mount Sveti Ivan or St John.

Several times they stopped the invaders who retreated before the walls, enchanted by their grandiosity. Although the size of the walls caused awe, they could not do much without a good defense within the city. Follow your guide up, making stops along the way. The first plateau is the bastion of St. Roko. You’ll also make a stop to visit the church of our Lady of the Health. With your ship in the bay and the red tiled roof tops in contrast, the views are simply spectacular!

Enjoy a look at local life by interacting with the fun-loving residents of Monkeyland and by visiting a typical Dominican home. Two families of squirrel monkeys live in the Monkeyland nature reserve, where they spend most of the day in the trees, although not high in the canopy. Unlike other New World monkeys that use their prehensile tails to grasp tree limbs, squirrel monkeys rely on their remarkably human-like hands and powerful feet to hold on. You will see them leaping about the trees, and they will likely come down for you to hand-feed them. If you encourage them, the squirrel monkeys will climb up on your shoulder. They are exceptionally social, highly intelligent and quite vocal as they communicate through dozens of calls such as barks, purrs and squawks. You will also see how many Dominicans live by dropping by a traditional house at Monkeyland for a cup of organic coffee.

Your adventure begins at the cruise ship pier, where you’ll be met by your Captain and crew. After a scenic 30 minute bus transfer get ready to board your waiting 60 foot, modern, sailing catamaran. After a short safety briefing, you’ll set sail along the scenic coast of Roatan in stunning turquoise Caribbean waters. During your sail to the snorkeling point, you’ll be fitted with your snorkeling equipment and given safety instructions. There is plenty of room to stretch out on the forward sun deck and ample comfortable shaded seating. There’s also a bar serving soft drinks and purified water before snorkeling. After approximately one half hour, you’ll arrive at the snorkeling point.

Snorkeling here is about the best the Caribbean has to offer. Enter the crystal clear, warm water, via the center stair case. Get an up close view of beautiful living coral and a large variety of tropical reef fish. All levels of snorkeler's, novice, intermediate and advanced snorkeler's will enjoy this site. Your snorkel guides will direct you to the best areas and make sure you are comfortable. Discover the beauty of hilltop Saint Paul de Vence, whose medieval walls enclose a village of atmospheric streets, architectural gems and irresistible shops.

After departing from the pier, you will soon drive inland where the landscape becomes wonderfully pastoral. On the approach to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, you will see the village atop a spur of land between two deep valleys, where it has perched since medieval times. It is easy to imagine the village during that period, as its 13th-century ramparts are still intact.

You will enter Saint-Paul-de-Vence through the main gate and then commence your guided walking tour through the winding pedestrian-only streets. Because there are no vehicles, it’s a pleasure to get around and you can’t help but delight in the lovely churches, shaded squares and fortified towers.

You may even see the French game of pétanque or lawn bowling being played beneath a plane tree. The setting has long inspired artists, especially in the 1920s when Signac, Modigliani and Bonnard painted here.

Following your guided walking tour of the walled city, you will enjoy time to explore on your own. The Great Fountain Square is an excellent starting point, from which you can easily reach the grand Collegiate Church, whose construction stretched from the 14th to 18th centuries.

Hike a winding forest trail through some of the most spectacular countryside on Kauai, a natural wonderland that lives up to its nickname, the “Garden Island.”

After departing from the pier, you will learn about the history of Kauai from the local guide, who will regale you with stories of the “Garden Island.” The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain, Kauai is covered by tropical rainforest, emerald-green valleys and jagged mountains of volcanic origin. It is a gorgeous setting for hiking through the forest.

The trail that you will follow covers about five miles and is immensely picturesque the entire time. As you hike through the lush wilderness, you will gaze out over some of the most extraordinary terrain in Hawaii. You can expect to see thundering waterfalls, primeval mountains and deep valleys, all created by ancient volcanic activity.

Along the way, the guide will point out the most interesting flora and fauna, especially those endemic to Kauai. You may see indigenous white plumbago in bloom, unusual ferns on the forest floor, brightly colored bromeliads clinging to tree branches and native forest birds such as the Kauai Amakihi and the Anianiau, the smallest of Hawaii’s honeycreepers.

After the show, a professional raptor handler will bring in a real bird of prey and talk about its behavior and characteristics. It may be a peregrine falcon, a snowy owl or golden eagle as all reside at the nearby Alaska Raptor Center, which rehabilitates injured birds. The Island Zipline Adventure course is a combination of the Osprey Zipline plus the Seahawk Zip to give you six high-flying zips plus a series of V-net bridges, chimney climbs and cargo nets, designed to challenge but not overwhelm your physical and mental strength. Enjoy a 25-minute scenic drive to Coral World Ocean Park, upon arrival a Sea Trek guide will brief you on your exciting undersea adventure. The staff will help you suit up with water shoes, gloves and your Sea Trek helmet which keeps your face and hair dry while it provides air, weight, and stability. In guided groups of no more than ten, you’ll trek around coral reefs and see their abundant marine life up close and personal 18-20 feet below the surface.
