Nestled in the heart of the Sierra Madre Mountains, San Sebastian's remote location and historic appeal have made it one of Mexico's last great getaways. This former mining town is a world away from typical resorts and ordinary tourist attractions. Your San Sebastian land expedition begins with a 90-minute drive by air-conditioned van from Puerto Vallarta to the 17th century mining town of San Sebastián. As the road weaves through the mountains, you'll enjoy fantastic scenery and typical scenes of rural Mexican life, making the journey both breathtaking and relaxing. Enjoy a typical lunch before your walk through town. Once in San Sebastian, wander around in this very peaceful town, which has changed so little in hundreds of years. Come across a quaint cobblestone plaza lined by dignified white buildings, a classic Porfirian bandstand, an 18th century church dedicated to San Sebastián and many old world Haciendas. San Sebastián is a living museum untouched by time, and an experience that is difficult to surpass. Note: Bring comfortable shoes and clothing, insect repellent, sunscreen and cash. We recommend you bring a light sweater. less

Start your day with a short transfer to Helsingborg town center. See 'The Keep', the remains of a 14th century castle which offers an extensive panorama of Helsingborg and across the sound to Denmark. Next, take the coastal route to Sofiero, a former royal summer residence and park with wonderful rhododendrons. Pass through the nature reserve of Palsjo Forest en route to Lund. This university town is set in a delightful pastoral environment. From the 12th to the 15th century it was the largest town in Scandinavia and the seat of a Danish archbishop. Once at the heart of town, visit the cathedral which is the oldest Romanesque church in Sweden, founded in 1080 by the Danish King Knut den Helige. It serves as a reminder of the fact that Lund was once the oldest episcopal seat in Scandinavia, with 27 churches and eight religious houses. In the aisle is the famous 14th-century astronomical clock with figures that emerge and perform twice daily. Continue on to Malmo, once a humble, medieval village on Oresund that was Danish up until 1658. For centuries it was caught in the crossfire between Nordic kingdoms feuding over the sovereignty of southern Sweden. Today however, Malmo is not only the capital of Skane Province, it is also Sweden’s third-largest city. Its strategic location is a major asset, being at the intersection of two cultures and only a bridge away from Europe. Heading back to Helsingborg, lunch will be served at a castle, very typical for this province. Note: Tour may operate in reverse order. Bring a credit card for additional purchases. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layers. less
