You'll be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle for a comfortable 25-minute drive to the embarking point, where your adventure begins. Bahia de las Aguilas translates to Bay of the Eagles, a name that may refer to the sea eagles that feast on the fish there. Race through the countryside in a caravan of off-road vehicles on the way to Eco Del Mar, a secluded glamping hotel where you can unwind on the beach. After a briefing to become familiar with the vehicle, you will hop into a 4-person Can Am Maverick dune buggy and either drive or ride along as a passenger. Either way, it will be adrenaline-pumping nonstop fun. The route will take you through a desert landscape, along the coast and into the rugged hills. Prepare for a short 15-minute hike up the mountain, passing through a landscape of endemic pines with distinctive pinecones. As you walk along a scenic, low-to-medium difficulty trail, take in the serene surroundings and the stillness of the high-altitude environment. At the summit, visit the observatory at the Hoyo de Pelempito Visitor Center, located 1,300 meters above sea level in the western Sierra de Bahoruco mountains.
