Journey to the Royal Park Theater for a water puppetry performance devised more than a thousand years ago by villagers to celebrate the end of rice harvests, mark religious festivals and entertain the royal court. Water puppetry has evolved over the centuries from folk art to a more established art form. An important part of Vietnam's cultural heritage, this theatric form not found anywhere in the world but Vietnam, has a traditional link to the earth, water and the local rice farmers.

The puppets range from 12 to 40 inches in height and from two to ten pounds. Many of the puppets are so heavy and complex that they require two or three puppeteers. During the performance, the puppeteers hide themselves behind a long screen and manipulate the wooden puppets with bamboo rods and strings while standing chest-deep in water. The show depicts Vietnamese life like weddings, domestic animals and school examinations accompanies by the music of bamboo flutes, drums, bells and single-string violins.

The same family has owned the property in the parish of Monte for more than a century, but their lives changed dramatically in 2013, when raging fires destroyed their home and crops. You'll be met by your professional cycling guide on the pier for a short walk to the cycle shop where you'll be fitted with a bicycle and helmet and given a bottle of water. Following a brief safety demonstration, you and your guide will begin the approximately eight mile and 1 1/2 hour bicycle ride to Montmorency Falls. First pass the Quebec Yacht Harbor and the industrial grain elevators before crossing the St. Charles River. The cycle path now continues on a parallel course along the St. Lawrence River from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the skyline of Quebec and the Island of Orleans. Upon arrival at Montmorency Falls, board an aerial tram for the ride to the top of the falls to enjoy the breathtaking views and see the powerful forces of nature, as the water of the Montmorency River roars down the 272-foot (83 meter) cliff to eventually meet with the St. Lawrence River. After a brief stop for photos and some free time to walk the path along the falls, you'll ride the tram back to the bottom of the falls and cycle back to your ship.

Follow a winding trail through a dense rainforest and across sky-walk bridges that will present a unique perspective of the vibrant ecosystem. A naturalist guide will lead the way along a circuitous natural path that crosses several hanging suspension bridges, the highest being about 165 feet above the forest floor. It will be a thrill to walk across and look straight down into the deep ravine below. The naturalist will point out and describe the exotic fauna, which includes monkeys in the tree canopy and butterflies flitting about the flowering vegetation. Frogs are plentiful, including the blue-jeans frog. This species is easy to identify because of its bright-red color, except from the waist down – which is blue, as if it is wearing jeans. Colorful birds are also abundant, including toucans, motmots and trogons. Even if trogons aren’t present, you will likely observe their nests in the cavities of dead trees.
